MWSU women’s tennis shuts out Lincoln Saturday

MWSUThe Missouri Western tennis team won it’s second straight match and third out of their last four on Saturday afternoon defeating Lincoln University 9-0. The Griffons improve to 6-13 overall and 2-8 in MIAA play with the victory.

In doubles action the Griffons got three points with No. 1 due of Meara Smith and Denise Chiao picking up an 8-3 victory over Alina Katrevich and Abigail Gober. Kayla Dysart and Alyssa Dougan defeated Kamaria Braye and Ashley Roling 8-1 in No. 2 doubleand Ceara Boldridge and Jode Goers defeated Gabrielle Quine and Jasmine Daniel 8-4 in No. 3 doubles.

In singles action the Griffons picked up six more points with Chiao defeating Gober 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles while Dysart defeated Braye 6-2, 6-0 in No. 3 singles. Smith defeated Katrevich 6-4, 6-2 while Boldridge won 6-1, 6-1 over Roling. Beger and Dougan won by scored of 6-4, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-0 over Quinn and Daniel respectively.

The Blue Tigers falls to 1-8 overall and 0-8 in MIAA play.

The Griffons return to action on Monday, April 8 when they take on the William Jewell Cardinals in St. Joseph, Mo. First serve is set for 2:00 pm.
