St Joseph police are investigating a shooting Tuesday evening, but specific details are not known or are not being released.

Captain Matt Rock tells us a 29-year-old white male was brought into Heartland Regional Medical Center shortly after 5:30 Tuesday afternoon.

The victim suffered a single gunshot wound to the back.

Captain Rock says the person who brought the victim to the hospital left without being identified.

Although the injuries are not believed to be life threatening, Captain Rock says they have not been able to question the victim because his course of treatment included intubation.

Rock says they are not yet releasing the victim’s name, because they don’t want to create any safety issues should the shooter still be looking for him.
