The American Red Cross is once again offering training for people who want to become disaster volunteers.

The Midland Empire Chapter will host a day-long training event for new volunteers on Thursday, August 8, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

An overview on disaster services will be held in the morning, followed by a course on shelter fundamentals in the afternoon. The courses are free, and will help prepare you to respond locally or nationally.

The courses will be held at the Midland Empire Chapter of the American Red Cross, 401 North 12th Street in St. Joseph, MO.
