The Missouri Western women’s golf team finished in 7th place the Henderson State First Federal Bank Invitational firing a two round 695 (352-343) which was 31 strokes ahead of Harding (726) and 13 strokes behind the University of Sioux Falls (688). The winner of the event was Central Oklahoma with a 614 (303-311). They were 15 strokes ahead of Henderson State’s (629). Anna Kloeppel led the Griffons tying for 11th with a 159 (83-76).
Madison Romjue finished in a tie for 28th with a 175 (84-91) while Callie Wilson finished in 35th with a 180 (93-87). Amber Chivington and Shelby Stone finished with a 182 (92-80) and 190 (100-90) respectively.
Taylor Neidy of Central Oklahoma carded an two-round 147 (70-77) winning the event by five storkes over Ally Harris of Henderson State.
The Griffons will be off for a week before they conclude their season in the MIAA Championships. It will be played in Lawrence, Kan. at Alvamar Golf Club on April 21-22.
The Missouri Western men’s golf team finished 8th at the HSU First Federal Bank Invitational firing a two round 626 (314-312). The event was played in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the Big Creek Golf and Country Club. Evan McCarthy finished in a tie for 14th firing 151 (77-74) which was nine strokes back of Arkansas Tech’s Alex Mahlik’s 142 (69-73). The winner of the event was Arkansas Tech with a 597 (293-304) which was one stroke ahead of Southwestern Oklahoma State, 598 (302-296).
James O’Brien finished in 39th with a 157 (76-81) while Derek Hawkins finished on stroke behind with a 158 (80-78). Scott Scheldon and Tyler Gast fininshed with 162 (81-81) and 166 (87-79) respectively. Dylan Watts finished in a tie for 42nd with a 159 (79-80) playing as an individual.
