JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Republican Eric Greitens is getting financing for his Missouri gubernatorial campaign from many of the same people who have supported a charity he founded for military veterans.

But Greitens denies that he has used a donor list for The Mission Continues to solicit money for his governor’s race against Democratic Attorney General Chris Koster.

An Associated Press analysis found that more than $1 of every $8 Greitens has raised came from previous donors to The Mission Continues.

A separate spreadsheet provided to the AP appears to show that a former Greitens campaign staffer had access to a Missions Continues donor list as Greitens was launching his fundraising in 2015.

Greitens acknowledges soliciting money from some Mission Continues supporters but said he wasn’t working off the charity’s donor list.

Comcast fined $2.3M to end probe into mischarging customers

comcastNEW YORK (AP) — Government regulators are fining Comcast $2.3 million, saying the cable giant has charged customers for stuff they never ordered, like premium channels or extra cable boxes.

The Federal Communications Commission says the Philadelphia company must clearly ask customers before charging them for new services or equipment and make it easier for customers to fight charges they think are wrong.

The agency says it’s the largest civil fine for a cable operator, though likely not too great a financial burden for Comcast Corp., which recorded a profit of more than $8 billion last year.

The Philadelphia company said Tuesday that it’s been working to improve customer service and that the problems uncovered by the FCC stemmed from “isolated errors or customer confusion” rather than Comcast intentionally mischarging customers.

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — The Kansas Attorney General says marijuana from Colorado is “permeating” every part of Kansas.

Attorney General Derek Schmidt said in a news release Monday that he got that information from 320 law enforcement agencies and 70 prosecutors’ offices that responded to a survey.

Schmidt says Colorado’s decision to legalize marijuana has led to high grade marijuana from that state largely replacing lower grade marijuana from Mexico and home grown marijuana in Kansas.

And he says the study by his office found a “significant rise” in marijuana edibles, waxes and oils coming from Kansas into Colorado.

Schmidt also criticized the federal government for not keeping promises to help prevent Colorado marijuana from moving into nearby states.

Court says construction can resume on small stretch of pipeline

Standing Rock Sioux tribal logoBISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A federal appeals court has opened the door for construction to resume on a small stretch of the four-state Dakota Access pipeline while it considers an appeal by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

The ruling was issued on Sunday.

The tribe had asked the U.S Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to continue work stoppage on the pipeline within 20 miles of Lake Oahe in North Dakota. The court earlier ordered work to stop while it considered the motion.

The court hasn’t decided on the tribe’s appeal of a September ruling by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, who declined to shut down work on the entire pipeline.

Though work may resume, federal agencies have prohibited construction on a section right at Lake Oahe where land is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
