Bob Gene Winslow 85, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 at a local hospital.
He was born December 9, 1927 in Maitland, MO, son of Edna and Orvel Winslow. He graduated from Fortiscue high school. He married Evelyn Sue Kurtz on September 7, 1958.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War as a medical technician and during his service he received a Parachutist Badge, a Purple Heart, and the WWII Victory Medal. After his military service he was employed at at Burlington Northern Railroad from 1649-1960, he then worked for TWA as a certified welder retiring in 1986.
He also owned and operated BobWinslow Sporting Goods & Heliarc Welding. He was a member of VFW Post 6760, American Legion post 359, and was a member of the St. Joseph Rifle and Pistol Club serving as secretary for 15 years, and was a Life Time Member of the NRA. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Orvel and Edna Winslow, two sisters, Barbara Hall & his twin sister Betty Winslow. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Sue Winslow of the home, one daughter, Sharon Kay Vindell (Tony) of Brownsville, TX, two grandchildren, Gwen Vindell and Antonio Vindell, two sisters, Alberta Chuning of Independence, Mo; and Beverly Quimby of Mound City, Mo. and one brother, David Winslow of Bentonville, Ar.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Rupp Funeral Home . The Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery, in Oregon, Mo.
