Temps in the upper 70s with rain and possible storms today

Scattered showers, that spread north overnight, will persist through the day across eastern Kansas and Missouri as a slow moving weather system spins it’s way east across the Plains States today and Wednesday. The rain today and Wednesday will be very hit-or-miss due to the scattered nature of the storms, though it’s likely that everyone will get a least a little bit of rain. Thus, rainfall totals will likely range from a couple tenths of an inch to just over an inch across the region by the end of Wednesday. Additionally, the rain and cloud cover will help keep temperatures a little below normal for mid-August. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. North wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
