She was born March 31, 1936 in Cedar Rapids, IA, daughter of Clarabelle and Louis Hahn. She made her living by raising and selling Boston Terrier dogs. She was a member of American Kennel Club.

Claudia was preceded in death by husband, Winton Constable in 2008, her parents, a brother, Donald Hahn, and 3 sisters, Lou Ann Warnstaff, Darlene Obanion, and Loretta Hahn.

Survivors include 2 sons, Bud Constable and wife Sherri and Gary Constable and his companion Kathy Fewins all of St. Joseph, 2 daughters, Leanne Farkus of St. Joseph, and Connie Hatfield of Independence, MO, 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Frank Hahn and KC Hahn, a sister, Penny Powell all of Iowa, her best friends for many years, Donna & Wayne Stroud, and her two precious dogs, Ringo & Boo Boo.

Graveside funeral services and interment will be conducted on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 10:30 am, at the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home, Rev. James Barnett officiating. There is no scheduled family visitation the register book will be available after 9:00 AM Monday at the Rupp Funeral Home.

Bill Davis, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Gower Convalescent Center in Gower, Missouri.

Bill was born on March 24, 1935 in Tarkio, Missouri to Orville C. and Delpha (Hughes) Davis.

He graduated from Tarkio High School. He worked 38 years at the St. Joseph News-Press & Gazette. He was owner & operator of Carol Ann’s Café.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mark Davis, one brother, and five sisters.

Surviving family includes wife of 58 years of marriage, Carol Davis, of the home; son, Eddie Davis, of Smithville; daughters, Susan (Kevin) Davis Keller, St. Joseph; Penney (Richard) Adams, of Amazonia; and Vicki Davis, also of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Ryan, Sara, Cindy, Matthew, Ryan, Christopher, Blake and Bradley; 14 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Davis has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.

Private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association.

Jerry Deatherage, 65, of St. Joseph, passed away, Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at his home.

Jerry was born on April 21, 1948 in St. Joseph to Donald and Elaine (Krumme) Deatherage. They preceded him in death.

Surviving: three sons: Jeff, Brian and Mark (Allison) and 3 grandchildren: Ronnie Phroper, Jayden and Carder Deatherage. Brother: Gene (Judy) Deatherage. Sister: Sue (Randy) Townsend and Friend: Judy Meade.

Visitation will begin after 5:00 PM Friday, Saturday at 9:00 AM. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Leo Valencia, 87, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at KU Medical Center.

Mr. Valencia was born October 22, 1925 in St. Joseph to Marcus and Cruz (Hernandez) Valencia. He attended Christian Brothers High School and St. Joseph Junior College. He served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the General E.T. Collins, later worked at Swift

and Company, and retired as a Retail Meat Cutter in 1990. On October 30, 1948 he married Elizabeth J. Mejia in St. Joseph, she survives of the home.

Leo was a WWII Honoree, a charter member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where he performed many volunteer services. He was also an active member of the Notre Dame Alumni Club, American Legion, VFW Post #1668, Retail Meat Cutters, UFCW and served on the St. Joseph Planning Commission from 1987 to 1992, After his retirement in 1990, Leo enjoyed traveling with his family and treasured spending time with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid Notre Dame fan making many trips to Notre Dame football games. He was very active in St. Joseph Boys Baseball and instrumental in the development of Hochman Field. He was very devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe, making several trips to the Shrine in Mexico City.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Louis Valencia; sister, Carmen Jefferson and three step-brothers Jesse, Manuel and Frank Valencia.

Mr. Valencia is also survived by his children; Gloria A. Nikes, Kathy J. Ziolkowski, and Lynn Valencia McMillian of St. Joseph and Richard M. Valencia of Melbourne, Florida; grandchildren; Amy Ray, Gary L. Ziolkowski, Jr., Steve Nikes, II, Darcy (Nikes) Brown, Lanie Nikes, Taylor McMillian, Cole McMillian, Erin Valencia, Mollie Valencia and Patrick Valencia; great-grandchildren; London Ray, Saylor Ray, Canyon Ray, Mclayne Ziolkowski and Cash Ziolkowski; sister Delores Moyer, St. Joseph nephews David and Danny Moyer, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin after 9:00AM Friday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel.

A Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00PM Friday evening at the chapel where the family will receive friends until 8:30PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

The family request memorial contributions be made to Bishop LeBlond High School.

Ralland A. Smith, 81, Mascoutah, Illinois died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at a healthcare facility in Illinois.

He was born October 23, 1931 to Earl and Ethel (Herndon) Smith in Parnell, Missouri.

He married Maro Dafni, who preceded him death in 2010.

Ralland retired from the United States Air Force after twenty-seven years and later worked and retired as a manager from the United States Post Office. Ralland and Maro later moved to Greece and lived there for eighteen years and moved back to the states in 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife.

Survivors: daughter, Zoi Hollis (Harold); grandson, Christian Hollis; sisters, Marceline Sauter and Beverly Rivera; and a brother, Robert Smith.

Charlotte L. Raines, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at a local healthcare facility.
She was born March 14, 1935 to Claude and Suzanne (Prevot) Lynch.

She married Lawrence Eugene Raines Sr. on April 16, 1954. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1990.
Charlotte retired from Sherwood Medical after 20 years. She later worked as a security guard at KCI airport and then as a greeter at the North Belt Wal-Mart.

She was a lifetime member at First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed painting and was an accomplished artist, having her work on exhibit at Albrecht-Kemper Museum. She also gave her time back to the community by helping out in grief support groups, Koinonia Sunday School and the Altar Guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Survivors: son; Larry Raines Jr., (Karen); daughters, Nancy Nylen and Carla Lattin (Rick); brothers, Robert Lynch (Frances) and Claude Lynch Jr. (Phyllis); sisters; Delores Simpson (Mike) and Janice Jeannoutot (Don); seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Emily, Aaron, Tiffany, DL, Josh, and Amber; several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born June 21, 2013. Jaysten was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Randy Williamson. Linda Sue Gallagher, 61, St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

She was born June 10, 1952 to Harold and Betty (Ingborg) Burchett in Bamberg, Germany.

Linda retired from United Missouri Bank after thirty years and was of the Baptist Faith.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Jones.

Survivors: husband, William “Bill” Gallagher; parents, Harold “Pete” and Betty Burchett, Faucett, Missouri; brother, Harold O. Burchett, St. Joseph, Missouri; daughter, Angie L. Bocquin (Dan), Olathe, Kansas; son, Brandon D. Jones, Smithville, Missouri; grandchildren, Hannah, Emma Ryn, and Ina Cole Bocquin, Olathe, Kansas; step-daughter, Canada Yocum; and step-grandson, Jacob Yocum.

Ginger Marie (Schellhorn) Schussler

Ginger Marie (Schellhorn) Schussler 47, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at her home.

She was born September 15, 1965 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Linda and John Schellhorn. She attended Lafayette High School and Missouri Western State University. She worked at WRDCC, as a Corrections officer. She enjoyed tennis, shopping, going to flea markets, and she loved her grandsons. She was Catholic.

Ginger was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include husband, Daryl Schussler, a daughter, Ciera Schellhorn, a brother, Tom Schellhorn, and a friend John Fisk, and two grandsons, Jesse James and Frank Paxson.

Graveside funeral services and interment will be conducted on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 10:30 am, at the King Hill Cemetery, Father Evan Harkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home.

Edwin (Ed) H. Huff

He was born July 6, 1931 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Anna and Eli Huff. He attended Benton High School and proudly serviced in the United States Marine Corp and is a veteran of the Korean War.

Ed worked numerous jobs until becoming a barber and owner or Huff Family Hair Care in the South Side for over 30 years. He enjoyed coaching his son in baseball and spending time with his grandchildren, and was a member of King Hill Lodge #376 A.F.& A. M. He married Renia Hauglie on July 27, 1981 and she survives of the home.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gregory Huff, and a brother, William Huff.

Survivors include, his wife Renia, a two sons, Bill (Sandy) Huff and Eddie (Krystina) Huff all of St. Joseph, MO, three daughters, Cathy Huff of Topeka, KS, Cora (Jimmy) Seery of Topeka, KS, and Christy (Rick) Adkins of St. Joseph, MO, 8, grandchildren, 5, great grandchildren, a sister in law, Roberta Bowles, and 2 nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, on Monday, August 19, 2013 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Rev. Scott Wineinger officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
