Bonnie Louise Messner, 82, Maryville, Missouri, went to be with the Lord
Thursday, August 15, 2013.

Bonnie was born March 10, 1931, in Quitman, Missouri to Pearl Andrew and
Beulah Opal (McAtee) Hart.

She married Clifton Messner January 8, 1947 in Troy, Kansas. To this union
their children Shirley, Dave and Sharon Kay were born. Clifton died in
1961. Bonnie next married Hartford Samson April 30, 1962. They had two
daughters, Nicki and Betty Jo, and Bonnie became a second mother for Sharon,
Kathy and Pam Samson. She later married Bill Sears, and later they
divorced.

After becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant, Bonnie continued her education
by becoming a Medical Technologist. She worked many years at Parkdale Manor
Nursing Home in Maryville.

She was a pioneer member of the Laura Street Baptist Church, where she
taught Sunday School. Bonnie was also a member of the Maryville Women’s
Bowling League.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clifton; daughters Shirley
Messner Hull and Sharon Kay Messner Johnson; sister, Evelyn Seipel and
brothers, Leon and Larry Hart.

Surviving Bonnie are her son, Dave (Sandy) Messner; daughters, Nicki Samson,
Betty (Dale) Reuter, Sharon Samson, all from Maryville, and Kathy (Dale)
Vansickle, Kirksville, Missouri and Pam (Cliff Perry) Samson, Springfield,
Missouri; and sister, Betty Langley, Maryville; ten grandchildren, Sheri
(Tracy) Yates, Stephanie Christi, Brandi Jackson, CJ (Sarah) Messner,
Courtney (James) Cox, Brittany (Dustin) Stringer, Amber Wineland, Ashton,
Kylie and Jacob Reuter; ten great-grandchildren, Spencer, Chandler, Kennedi,
Taylor, Jett, Sydney, Thomas, Kendyl, Kameron and Crayton; and several
nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Monday, August 19, 2013, at Laura Street
Baptist Church, Maryville. A visitation will be held at the church from
9:00-10:00 am prior to the service. Burial will be in Nodaway Memorial
Gardens, Maryville.

Dale Donald Smith, a young 69, Hollister, Missouri died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at his home.
He was born July 5, 1944 to Earl and Melba (Browning) Smith in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He married Barbara Jean Mason in 2004. She survives of the home.
Dale was a farmer for most of his life and later worked at Sara Lee Foods in St. Joseph, Missouri as a forklift operator until retiring in 2006.
He loved farming, and worked to keep his farm spotless. He kept his home in Hollister up as well and went fishing as often as he could. He spoke with his twin brother daily and also enjoyed talking with his friends Jim Falfrank and Wes Lent. His farm was rented by Mitchell Corbin and Donnie thought of him highly.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents.

Margaret Johanna Hertel Meyn, left this life and went home to the Lord on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the age of 92. She was born October 22, 1920, in St. Joseph, Missouri and lived here her entire life.
She was a 1937 graduate from Lafayette High School and a life-long member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, Missouri, where she remained active until her death.
Margaret was interested in many things: she enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling and reading, but her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, helping and serving others. She had a strong faith in the Lord Jesus and joy is hers today.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernst and Emma Reinert; brothers, Walter, George and Norman; sister, Dorothy Brigham; first husband, Ernest Hertel; second husband, Clement Meyn; and her son-in-law, Robert East.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Barbara East, Peggy Ransom (Don), and Janis Irwin (David); grandchildren, Lisa Miller (Billy), Jennifer Moore (Ron), Elizabeth Zahnd (Curtis), Christopher Ransom (Lisa), Lauren Dreis (Brian), Ryan Irwin (Bethany), and Joelle Irwin (Cory Teal). Surviving their beloved Great Nanny are her great grandchildren, Amanda and Abigayle Miller, Gracie and Sam Moore, Emmaleigh and Cooper Zahnd, Addison Carrel, and Mercy and Justice Irwin. A large extended family and many friends also mourn her passing.

He was born January 21, 1947 to Willard and Helen (Williams) Matthews in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Ruth Ann.

George Donald Clark, 89, Bendena, Kansas died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Atchison Hospital.

He was born July 17, 1924 to Albert and Mathilda (Christensen) Clark near Troy, Kansas.

He married Audrey Jean Smith on January 25, 1946. She preceded him in death on November 6, 2003.

Don was a 1941 graduate of Bendena High School and attended Purdue University for Naval Training. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. Don served on the U.S.S. Hamill, where he attained the rank of First Class Electricians Mate.

He served as a Rural Mail Carrier, where he served as State Secretary/Treasurer. He retired as a banker, serving with Bendena State Bank, Farmer’s Bank of Leona, Citizens State Bank, Hiawatha, and the Bank of Robinson.

Don was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bendena, Kansas, Treasurer of Moray Cemetery Association for many years, Smithton Lodge #1, A.F. & A.M., the Troy Post #5, American Legion.

He enjoyed woodworking, visits from family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his talking books.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norris Clark; two sisters, Opal Graham and Ruby Dickson; son-in-law, Floyd Myers; and granddaughter, Michelle Myers.

Survivors: five children, Gail Myers, St. Joseph, Missouri, Jim Clark and his wife Kathy, Bendena, Kansas, Roger Clark and his wife Connie, Wathena, Kansas, Jeannie Marteney and her husband Ron, Emporia, Kansas, and Paul Clark and his wife Cathy, Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Alice Mix, Spokane, Washington, and Pearl Lewis, Troy, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on September 9, 1933 and adopted by Earl and Vera (Tilley) Nolt of Savannah, Missouri, who preceded her in death.

Mary graduated from Savannah High School in 1951, where she was the Homecoming Queen in 1950 and also graduated from Casters Beauty School.

She owned Mary Belle’s Beauty Shop in Savannah for five years before moving to Florida. She worked for Honeywell in Largo, Florida for twenty years. She moved back to Savannah in 2012 after 50 years in Florida. She was also of the Baptist Faith. Mary was a generous soul and hard worker her entire life. She loved reading, rescuing and caring for animals, looking for shells at the beach and tending her citrus trees.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Carl Dawson, Frank Kempt, and Johnny Gordon.

Survivors: son, Jeff Esely (Ginger), Savannah, Missouri; daughter, Sandra Koler, Fremont, Ohio; son, Kenneth Hines, Pinellas Park, Florida; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Cordonier (Bill), Wathena, Kansas; and brother, Lee Riley (Vi), Anchorage, Alaska.

Ruth Ellen Morrow, 94, Maryville, Missouri, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Village Care Center, Inc, Maryville, Missouri.

Ruth was born March 16, 1919, in Burlington Jct., Missouri to Loren Melville and Grace Velma Blackford Reed. Ruth and Verlin Morrow married October 1, 1938, in Troy, Kansas.

She kept 17 college ladies in her home, as their housemother, for 6 years. She then served as event coordinator for 17 years for Northwest Missouri State University.

Ruth was a member of the Maryville First Christian Church, having served many functions in the church over the years.

Preceding Ruth in death were her parents, husband Verlin Morrow, infant sisters Pauline and Lorene Reed, sisters Georgia Ulmer and Roberta Beason, step-sister Maxine O’Riley and step-brothers John Miller and Wilson Miller and son-in-law Francis Tompkins.

Ruth is survived by two daughters Jolene Tompkins, St. Joseph, Missouri and Carol Sutton and husband Robert, Altoona, Iowa, three grandchildren Rhonda (Ron) Bartram and James (Whitney)Tompkins, both of St. Joseph and Michelle (Scott) Duer, Altoona, Iowa, 9 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, sister Lorayne Ulmer, Maryville and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM, Friday, August 16, 2013, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri, where the Funeral Services will be at 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 17.

Burial will be in Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville, Missouri.

1925-2013

Henry C. “H.C.” Schneider, passed on to his heavenly father August 11, 2013 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He was 88 years old.

His beloved wife Doris preceded him in death in 2009.

He is survived by his daughter, Lori and son-in-law Brian Nilges; two grandsons, Joseph Calvin Nilges and Christopher Andrew Nilges; brother, Dale Schneider; several nieces and nephews.

Henry served in the CBI Theater during WWII and he was a proud veteran.

Henry retired from the Postal Service about 25 years ago. He was a member of the Avondale United Methodist Church, Kansas City, Missouri. He had been active at the Cosby Blue Lodge #600 A.F.& A.M., was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Moila Shrine and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brother, Nelson Schneider.

Jerry Arthur Homan

Jerry Arthur Homan, 54, St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at his home.

He was born July 19, 1959 to Jerry and Carol (Chaney) Homan in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He married the love of his life Debra Haggard on September 17, 1983. Jerry and Debbie gave birth to their daughter Ashleigh Nicole on March 5, 1985. Debbie and Ashleigh survive of the home

His sidekick and favorite buddy was his six year old grandson Brody Quinn. They spent a lot of time together and understood each other in a way no one else could. When they hung out together they liked to play basketball, baseball, drive remote control cars, take rides in the convertible, blow bubbles, “fish” in the basement, ride on the mower around the block, ride bikes, water the flowers, and shared their love for sweets.

He met his best friend, Kirk Potter while on the job and they became very close and shared a bond that could not be equaled.

Jerry worked for Continental Fire Sprinkler Company as a sprinkler-fitter, pipe-fitter, and a service technician.

He enjoyed motorcycles, collecting guns and knives, going to the shooting range with his daughter Ashleigh, and western movies with Clint Eastwood. He was the most at peace in the mountains, Lake Tahoe, and the coast. He was a jack of all trades and master of all, and would help anyone in need. He appreciated, valued, and lived for his love of music and the lyrics, and message they delivered. He also enjoyed gardening and working on his Rubicon Jeep Wrangler. He was a history and trivia buff and knew the answer to any questions anyone ever asked him. He was also a member of Roadfitters Union #669.

He was preceded in death by his father; and mother-in-law, Beverly Haggard Rose.
