Larry D. Thompson, 73, Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, died Monday, December 31, 2012. He was born April 13, 1939 to Everett and Anna Thompson in Topeka, Kansas. Larry married Marian K. Burns on June 10, 1962. She preceded him in death in March 2005. He married Nancy Ebberts on September 5, 2009. She survives of the home. He was a microbiologist at Boehringer Ingelheim. Larry was a Deacon at Parkville Presbyterian Church and an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph. He volunteered for the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, and the local food pantry. Larry is also survived by his daughters, Karen Thompson Bishop (Bill), Kansas City, Missouri, and Marilyn Thompson (Sam Green), granddaughter Leah Green, Phoenix, Arizona, and a brother, Richard M. Thompson (Mary), Gladstone, Missouri. Services: 10:00 A.M. Friday, Parkville Presbyterian Church, Parkville, Missouri. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, Missouri. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, Parkville Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to either church or the American Red Cross. Robert (Bob) Keith James
1936-2012
Robert (Bob) Keith James of Bryan, TX went to Heaven on Friday, December 28th in Decatur, IL. Bob was born in Albany, MO on July 30th 1936. He married Dorothy Evans of Savannah, MO. Survivors include his wife Dorothy of 53 years; daughters Beth Holmes and Brad of Decatur, IL, Carolyn James and Heike Mund of Hamburg, Germany and Laura Smith and Scott of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren Morgan Higgins, Casey Gregg, T.J. Holmes, Cameron, Connor, and Creighton Smith; brother Ned L. James and wife JoAnn of Quitman, AR; and several nieces and nephews. Bob grew up in Albany, MO. He completed a degree in Chemistry at Northwest Missouri State; a Master of Science from University of Northern Iowa and a P.H.D. in Science Education from University of Iowa. He taught high school science at Odessa, MO. Later as a Professor of science education at Kansas State and Texas A&M, Bob lived his passion for training and mentoring science educators and he also directed the Texas Alliance for Science. An active member of First Baptist Church of Bryan, TX, Bob thrived on teaching Sunday School, supporting missionaries and serving in church outreach. Bob served in the National Guard. Woodworking, gardening, fishing with his grandchildren and spending time with family and friends were among his favorite activities. Bob and Dorothy treasured their summers in Tin Cup, CO. The prayers and songs of his family surrounded him in death. We are eternally grateful for his life. Inurnment 3:00 P.M.
