1939 – 2019

Patricia “Pat” Ann Johnston 79, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 at her home. She was born February 26, 1939 in Agency, MO, daughter of the late Mamie and Harry McDowell. She worked at a nursing home in Branson as a Dietary aid. Pat was preceded in death by husband, Walter Eugene Johnston, her parents, brothers; Lloyd, Ernest, Furman, Glen, and Jerald McDowell, and a sister, Juanita Cline. Survivors include, sons, Patrick “Andy” Johnston, Cape Fair, MO, Emmitt (Stephanie) Johnston, Spokane, MO, Eugene (Laura) Johnston, Fairbanks, AK, and Robin Johnston, daughter, Sharon (Richard) Lowery, of Colorado, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, brother, Jimmy Lawson, St. Joseph, MO, and a sister, Edna Myers of St. Joseph, MO.

Funeral services: 10:00 am, Friday, February 15, 2019 at Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Dr. Roger Wilcoxen officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Weston, MO.

Ashley Nicole Durham
1985-2019

Ashley Nicole Durham, 33, Topeka, Kansas, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019. She was born June 5, 1985, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Ashley was a phlebotomist.

She was a big jokester, a daredevil, and would always fly by the seat of her pants. Ashley wasn’t afraid of anything and could always make you laugh. She was generous, even when she didn’t have anything herself, and was never materialistic. Ashley was loyal, especially to her family. Above all, she was a beautiful soul, and everyone loved her. Ashley will be greatly missed.

“You were always my protector. Now, you’re my guardian angel.”

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, Richard Edelen, and uncle, Eric Edelen.

Doris Patricia Corless
1924 – 2019

Doris Patricia Corless, 94, went to be with the Lord on 11 February 2019 at a local healthcare facility.

Miss Corless was born on April 6, 1924 in St. Joseph, MO, where she was a lifelong resident. She attended St. Patrick Catholic School and Convent of the Sacred Heart High School.

Doris worked as a bookkeeper for 54 years. She was with PPG Industries for 25 years, Thompson Decorating Center for 21 years and volunteered as a bookkeeper for St. Joseph Christian School for 8 years.

She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she served as a Liturgical minister, a Bible Group leader, an Altar Society member and an RCIA team member. Doris was a recipient of the Bishops Recognition Award for her work in the Parish. She was a long time member of the Daughters of Isabella and also volunteered her time at the Valley Community Center Food Kitchen.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Lorene (Rogers) Corless; sisters, Jean Curtin and Ruth Jacobs; two nephews, Mark Curtin and John Jacobs; and close first cousins, Rosemary (Regan) Campfield, Eugenia (Regan) McKillip, Lorene (Williams) Arbuckle and Helen (Rogers) Andres.

Survivors include one sister, Barbara Ann Gregory and husband Joseph Gregory; sixteen nieces and nephews, their spouses and children.

Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of Doris’ life will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, February 15, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Rosary 4:30 PM, Thursday, February 14 at Heaton Bowman Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel with family to receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.

Richard Dean Marsack
1939 – 2019

Richard Dean “Dick” Marsack, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away, Monday, February 11, 2019 at his home.

Richard was born February 13, 1939 in Port Huron, Michigan. He worked at Gray Manufacturing for 39 years.

He married Joanne Borkowshi on June 11, 1960 and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Mary Kalamon-Marsack, Bev Griffin, Angela Hensley; grandchildren, Chanel Kalamon-Marsack, Amber Starke, Sable Kalamon-Marsack, Brandon Griffin, Ashton Hensley, Bobbie Brooke Griffin; six great-grandchildren; brother Joe Marsack and wife Joan; sister Beverly Maddy; nephew Richard Dean Marsack.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, shooting pool, and softball.

Richard was cremated under the direction of the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Services will be held at a later date.

Harriet “Marie” Severns
1927 – 2019

Harriet “Marie” Severns, 91, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Marie was born October 24, 1927, in Denton, KS, to the late William “Webb” and Gussie Louise (McNelly) Prawl. She was a graduate of Central High School and worked at Westab.

She was united in marriage to Harry Francis Severns on May 29, 1947, in Troy, KS. They celebrated 46 years of marriage before his passing in 1993.

Her involvement in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Webster PTA, PTA Council, Lafayette H.S volunteer and Saint Paul United Methodist Church all centered around her family. She enjoyed reading, sewing, ceramics, traveling, and playing cards and Bingo.

Preceding her in death were her siblings, Norman Prawl and Kathryn Mitchell.

Survivors include her children, Pamela (Walt) Hanabury, Jeffrey (Pam), Gregory (Ilene), and Barry (Lori) Severns; grandchildren, Keith Severns, Brian Hanabury, Mack Severns, and Parker, Carter (Amelia), Addison (Kaitlin), and Anya Severns; great-grandsons, Liam and Laken Severns, Hudsyn Severns, and great-granddaughters Madeline Hanabury and Collins Severns; and great-great-grandson Lincoln Severns; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial contributions to Noyes Home, United Way, or the St. Joseph Animal Shelter would be appreciated.

Dixie L. Barbosa
1927 – 2019

Dixie L. Barbosa, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019, at her home.
She was born April 9, 1927, in Martinsville, Missouri.

Dixie married E.C. Pelen Barbosa on November 11, 1946. He preceded her in death July 1, 2006.
She was employed by Seitz and other packing plants. Dixie started The Tamale House at Holy Rosary Parish, and in 1966, she and her husband started Barbosa’s Restaurant, which operated until 2004.
Dixie was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and assisted with the Open Door Food Kitchen for years.

She was also preceded in death by her three infant children, Regina, Espiridion, and Thomas Barbosa; son, Stephen Barbosa; and parents, Ivan and Oreana (Craiger) Gentry; and sister, Izola (Datie) Wenzworth.
Survivors include daughter, Judy Barbosa, St. Joseph; six grandchildren, Blake Barbosa, Daisy Frisch (Tony), Poppy Sullivan (Jeff), Ryan Barbosa (Erica), Luke Heitman (Becca), and Gavin Orroyo (Frank); 12 great-grandchildren, Tanner, Parker, Espiridion “Reid”, Lily, Beckett, Finn, Sophie, Oliver, Brody, Hayden, Mason, and Olive; two great-great-grandchildren, Imre and Covie; three sisters, Ella Mae Horn, Lois Lyon, and Margaret Wolfe; brother, John Gentry; daughter-in-law, Donna Barbosa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ila Mae Martin
1928 – 2019

TOPEKA – Ila Mae Martin, 90, of Topeka, died Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Plaza West Care Center in Topeka.

She was born May 22, 1928 at Avoca in Jackson County the daughter of Lloyd and Sarah Bostwick Bowser. She graduated from Soldier High School in 1946.

Ila Mae had worked at American Bindery in Topeka and in the kitchen at Tecumseh North School.

She was a member of the West Side Baptist Church in Topeka.

She married Paul Martin, Jr. on October 31, 1948 at Valley Falls. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2006.

Ila Mae was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ronald Dean Martin, who died in a car accident in 1954, and a brother, Clifford Bowser.

Survivors include a son, David Martin, Topeka; two brothers, Bob Bowser and wife Eva, Holton and Larry Bowser and wife Alice, Meriden; two sisters, Edna Starr, Topeka and Barbara Amos, Olathe; one granddaughter, Paula Park and one great granddaughter, Averie Park.

A graveside service will be held at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton on Saturday, February 16th at 11:00 a.m. Private burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. The casket will remain closed. Opal May Roberts
1925 – 2019

Opal May Roberts, 93, Agency, Missouri, went home to be with her Lord Jesus, Tuesday, February 5, 2019.
She was born April 20, 1925 in St. Joseph, Missouri where she lived until moving to Faucett, Missouri, then moved to Agency, Missouri where she resided since 1967.
Opal married Rev. Leonard W. Roberts August 2, 1943. He preceded her to Heaven November 13, 2010.
She was a graduate of Central High School. Opal was a secretary for several churches including Calvary Baptist and Patee Park Baptist; MFA; Sprout-Waldron; and was the high school secretary of Mid-Buchanan.
She and Leonard dedicated their lives to serving the Lord Jesus, most recently at Agency Baptist Church. They helped establish several churches in Nebraska and St. Joseph. Leonard pastored and Opal taught Sunday school, directed and taught vacation Bible school and mission studies at the various churches in which they served. Numerous people came to know the Lord as a result of their ministry and several are serving as missionaries at home and abroad to this day.

She loved children and her ministry. Opal was very creative in sewing, crafts, and gardening. She always generously shared from what she produced. Her family would attest to her great cooking and canning skills. She rarely had a moment of leisure and was always busy doing and giving.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Wyley and Edith (Hamm) Rall; brother, Harry Rall; and son, Leonard “Butch” Roberts.

Survivors include daughter, Debbie Roberts; daughter-in-law, Marlene Roberts; granddaughters, Carla Thurman (Nathan), Amy Hill (Steve); great-grandchildren, Brandon, Joshua, Denver, and Levi Thurman, Zachary Hill, Lauren (Clayton) See, and Hayden and Logan Hill; great-great-grandchildren, Kenzee and Kylo Hill.

Gerald V. Miller
1940 – 2019

Gerald V. Miller, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at Mosaic Life Care, surrounded by his loving family.

Gerald was born on September 6, 1940 in St. Joseph, Missouri, to the late Gerald and Elizabeth (Swoboda) Miller. He was a 1960 graduate of Central High School.

Mr. Miller retired as a Federal Weighmaster and had worked for AGP and Farmland.

Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a soft spot for homeless and abandoned animals. He could always be depended upon to help and fix any problem that came along.

Gerald married Mary F. Spangler on October 7, 1960. She survives him of the home.

Additional survivors include his daughter, Jerralee Echterling (Brian Saulsman); son-in-law, Jim Mrkvicka; grandchildren, Catilyn Echterling-Reeve (Daniel), Max Ectherling; James III, Joshua and Jordan Mrkvicka and numerous nieces, nephews and additional family members.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Mrkvicka; son-in-law, Dennis Echterling and siblings.

Services 11:00 AM Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Barbara “Lorene” Chapman, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019.
She was born July 15, 1935 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Barbara married Leroy Chapman June 6, 1952. He preceded her in death July 18, 2008.
She was a member of South Park United Methodist Church.
Barbara enjoyed camping, traveling, crocheting, and spending time with her family.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Timothy Chapman; parents, Orene Clemens and Viola “Lucille” Coy (McMillian); and step-father, Elmer McMillian.

Guy E. Cordonier
1929 – 2019

Guy E. Cordonier, 89, Clarksdale, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019, at his home.
He was born May 10, 1929 in Oak Mills, KS. Guy graduated from Wathena High School and attended Hillyard Technical School.

Guy served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He married Arley Mae Townsend on September 26, 1952; she survives of the home.
Guy worked at Armour in St. Joseph, MO for 45 years. He retired and became a farmer in Clarksdale, MO. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, former member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, and a member of the American Legion Post #1000.
Guy was an excellent carpenter, loved to read and play computer games. He loved people and visiting with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Everet and Zella (Tucker) Cordonier; his beloved grandparents, William and Mary Cordonier; Gertrude Cordonier; son, Edward Cordonier; brothers, Dallas Cordonier, Arnold Wolf; son-in-law, Jim Finlay; and father-in-law, Arley Townsend.

Survivors include his wife, Arley Mae, Clarksdale, MO; daughters, Rebecca Miller, Union Star, MO, Mary Cordonier-Finlay, Stewartsville, MO; sons, Guy Andrew Cordonier (Nancy), Parkersburg, West VA, Arley C. Charles E. Rainez
1941 – 2019

Charles E. Rainez, 77, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019.
He was born August 20, 1941. Charles was a 1960 graduate of Christian Brothers High School. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, being honorably discharged in 1966.
Charles married Susie Jean Short on January 16, 1973; she survives of the home.

He enjoyed fishing, shooting, working with leather and watching Kansas City Chiefs football.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Edward G and Leta Lorene (Silcott) Rainez; sister, Diane Carter.

Darlene B. Bowman
1961 – 2019

Darlene Bowman, 57, of St. Joseph, passed away February 5, 2019.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and a past member of the local American Business Women’s Association. She enjoyed crafting, painting and was an excellent cook. Darlene loved spending time with her church family and her grandchildren.

Preceded in death: son, Nathan William Bowman.

Survivors: daughter, Natasha Roberts; parents, John and Martha (Chaney) Anderson; brother, Darrell Anderson (Martha); grandchildren, Austin Roberts, Darian Roberts, Emily Bowman, Kendal Starke and Logan Swope.

Patsy J. Dallas
1946 – 2019

Patsy J. Dallas, 72, of Hoyt, died Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the North Care Hospice in Kansas City, Missouri.

She was born April 15, 1946 in Fresno, California, the daughter of Frank and Pauline Grimes Hunt.

Patsy attended the Denison Bible Church. She was an author, an accomplished artist and a great homemaker. She loved gardening.

She married Harold J. “Jerry” Dallas on September 4, 1965. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2016.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Anna Dallas, six brothers, Bill Hunt, Ernest Hunt, Jim Hunt, Jack Hunt, Floyd Hunt and Kenneth Hunt, and two sisters, Annilee Hunt, who died in infancy, and Barbara.

Survivors include three sons, Frank Dallas and wife Richie, Tuscaloosa, AL, Brian Dallas, Kansas City, MO and Jeremy Dallas and wife Michelle, Soldier; two brothers, George “Bubba” Hunt, Soldotna, AK and Gilbert Hunt, Kenai, Alaska; four grandchildren, Jeremy Michael Dallas, Kendra Mary-Katherine Dallas, Logan Robert-Thomas Dallas and Rose Shirly Abrau and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Topeka Cemetery. 1932 – 2019

Raymond Wendel Anslinger, 86, of Savannah, MO formerly of Atchison, KS, and Wichita, KS passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019, at LaVerna Senior Living, Savannah, MO.

Raymond was born August 21, 1932 in Atchison, KS, the son of Albert Anton and Lillian Mae (Hines) Anslinger. He graduated from Atchison High School in 1950, attended Washburn University, and then Wichita State University earning a BA in Education and then a Masters. Raymond served in the United States Army earning the rank of Major and in the Army Reserve earning the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He earned the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, and many other medals in his thirty-five years of military service. Raymond was a member of The American Legion (Unit Commander), AHS Golden Grads, American Society of Training Directors (Past President), and the Association of US Army. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, crossword puzzles, RVing, and gardening.

Raymond married Erma Jean Ryan; she preceded him in death on October 17, 1990. He married Lila Ellen Cowley on February 15, 1992 in Savannah, MO, she survives of the home. Additional survivors include his daughters, Sheri (Dallas) Wolfe, Memphis, TN, Janet (Kevin) Crouch, Augusta, KS, and Wendi Turner, Andover, KS, his sister Linda (Danny) Garner, Haysville, KS, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his infant son, Mark Anslinger.

Nancy (Shriver) Kuntz
1938 – 2019

Nancy (Shriver) Kuntz, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph.
She was born May 2, 1938, in Maryville, Missouri. Nancy graduated from Maryville High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University.
She married Richard Karl “Dick” Kuntz on May 17, 1973. He survives of the home.
Nancy was a secretary for Missouri Western State College.
She was an outgoing member of the Moila Needles, Moila Golf, and the Moila Women’s Card Club. Nancy was an avid bridge player and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Edna (Sturm) Shriver, and sister, Dorothy Roberts.
Survivors also include her children, Susan Krofft, Chris Maris (Talisa), and Barbara Holland (Steve Stratton); grandchildren, Tyler Krofft, Cara McDowell, Caleb Maris (Angelique), and Hannah Maris (Neil Galas); great-grandchildren, June, Nolan, and Jack; brother, Jack Shriver (Carolyn); sister, Sue Propst (Ed); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Billie “B” Lynne Montgomery
1941 – 2019

Billie “B” Lynne Montgomery, 77, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in St. Joseph. She was born August 24, 1941 to her wonderful and loving parents Jesse (Cotton) and William Kee. She attended a 1 room school house and graduated from Oregon High School in 1959. She united in marriage to Robert Montgomery on September 13, 1959 in Oregon, MO . She and her husband owned and operated Montgomery & Son Trash Service for over 40 years. B enjoyed spending time with her family, who will miss her dearly. She was initiated into the Order of Eastern Star in 1960 serving numerous positions within her chapter, meeting many new friends over the years. She was currently a OES member of Chapter 223 in Savannah, MO. B was also a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Montgomery on December 30, 2011, father, William Kee and mother, Jesse Pauline Kee. Survivors include, daughter, Robyn (Dan) Richey of St. Joseph, son, Robert L. (Jenifer) Montgomery, of St. Joseph, brother, Stan Kee of Carrollton, MO, sister, Pat (Ike) Pekarek of Hiawatha, KS, sister, Nancy (Phil) Schaeffer of Dearborn, MO, granddaughter, Caitlin Montgomery, granddaughter, Leah Montgomery, grandson, Samuel Montgomery, great-granddaughter, Reagan Hamm and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Rupp Funeral Home, Rev. James Barnett officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home, where the Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 6:00 p.m. The Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Oregon, Missouri. Bob R. Reichel
1928 – 2019

Bob R. Reichel, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care.
He was born February 29, 1928 to Walter and Erma (Gorman) Reichel in Centralia, Illinois.
Bob married Dolores L. Martin from Larned, Kansas. They celebrated 71 years of marriage and raised three children.
He served his community where he was a 50-year member of Charity Lodge, A.F. and A.M., 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Moila Shrine, Advisory Board Member of the Salvation Army and St Joseph Parks and Recreation.
Bob was employed by Santa Fe Transportation, Byers Transportation, and retired as co-owner of Brown Transfer and Storage. He also opened the first antique mall in St. Joseph.
Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, traveling, golfing and playing cards with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-father, Dick Abernathy.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores; children, Mark Reichel, St. Joseph, Missouri, Robin Baum (Douglas), Denton, Texas, Jill Kiehl (Tim), Anacortes, Washington; five grandchildren, Justin Kiehl (Nicole), Sarah Baldwin (Josh), Chelsea Reichel, Tracy Graham (Chris), Jenny Baum; seven great-grandchildren, Bailey, Parker, Ally, Autumn, Maverick, Levi, and Hannah.

Ramona Rose Ozenberger, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care.
She was born August 16, 1928.
Ramona married Bruce Ozenberger, Jr. on May 31, 1946; he preceded her in death on August 29, 2001.
She was a member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church, American Legion, Moila, Garden Club and various other organizations.
Ramona was preceded in death by her husband; parents, John and Nellie (Sharp) Simpson; son, Bruce Ozenberger; and daughter, Judy Meader.
Survivors include daughter, Carmen Rose, New Orleans; grandsons, Jason Ozenberger (Alicia), Jeffrey Ozenberger; great-grandchildren, Brodie, Dillon, and Dean Ozenberger; and niece, Marquita Liappis.

Gerald E. “Jerry” Rathgeber
1937 – 2019

Gerald E. “Jerry” Rathgeber, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019.
He was born May 30, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois.
Jerry married Twila Schottel August 31, 1984. She survives of the home.
He was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church, St. Joseph, Missouri and Leesburg Methodist Church in Florida.
Jerry enjoyed playing golf, was a car enthusiast, and a very active member of church.
He worked in sales and management, retiring from Yellow Freight in the St. Louis Regional office in 1997. After retirement, Jerry and Twila moved to Leesburg, Florida for eight years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Clara (Miller) Rathgeber.
Additional survivors include son, Scott Rathgeber (Debbie); daughter, Sheralyn Hulse (Mark) grandson, Trace Finlay; brother, Edmond Rathgeber, Robins, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Grace E. Morehouse, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care.
She was born January 6, 1929 in Parnell, MO.
Grace married Francis Auffert and they were later divorced; he preceded her in death. She married James Morehouse in April of 1978; he also preceded her in death.
Grace was the owner of Starlight Café in Bedford, Iowa for 2 years and owner of Country Peddler Craft Business for 25 years.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and sewing.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Viola (Ross) Messner; son, James Morris Auffert; sisters, Joanne Messner and Valda Jean Kauffman.

She was a member of Trinity United Brethren Church.
Carol enjoyed camping and attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildrens extra-curricular activities.

Walter H. “Wally” Lewis, 66, Elwood, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital.
He was born November 6, 1952.
Wally married Linda S. Reynolds on April 17, 1976; she survives of the home.
He was a 1970 graduate of Elwood, High School. Wally worked at Boehringer Ingelheim for 30 years.
Wally enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, especially the Chiefs and loved music and antiques.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty (Graves) Lewis; uncles, Jim Wells, Bob Graves.

Judith Jene “Judy” Long
1942 – 2019

Judith Jene “Judy” Long, 76, of St. Joseph, died Monday, February 4, 2019, at St. Joseph Senior Living in St. Joseph. Judy was born August 4, 1942, in Buchanan County, MO, to Raymond Eugene and Mary Louise (Hollenbeck) Stroud.

Prior to retirement she worked as a cook for the St. Joseph State Hospital for over 30 years. She was a member of the Woodson Chapel Christian Church, and the Eagles #49 of St. Joseph. She had previously attended the Mound City Christian Church in Mound City, MO.

She was married to Calvin L. Long and he preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a sister Vicki L. Church.

Survivors include a sister Janice Hyatt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodson Chapel Christian Church or to the Kickapoo Nation.

Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2019 , from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Betty Joan Gilleland
1935 – 2019

Betty Joan Gilleland, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care.
She was born October 8, 1935 in Starfield, MO to Rollie and Clara (Carter) Musser.
Betty married Dee Gilleland on May 16, 1953; he survives of the home.
She was an avid reader and also enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers.
Betty loved children and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kay, Clay, Bill, Charles, Rollie, Jr., Allen, and Darrell Musser; sisters, her twin, Barbara Jean Musser, Anna Mae Summerfield, and Nettie Bottorff.

Neal K. Nold, 59, Clarksdale, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019.
He was born August 27, 1959 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Neal married Tracy Jo Smithson February 16, 1985. She survives of the home.
He was a member of Helena United Methodist Church, Helena Lion’s Club, MO Holstein Association, Dairy Farmers of America, Helena 4-H Alumni and Ball Association of Helena.
Neal enjoyed farming, tractors, sports and attending agriculture events. His greatest pride was being a grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Darline (Schottel) Nold.

Joyce A. Watts, 76, of St. Joseph, MO passed away February 3, 2019.

She was born April 14, 1942 in Robinson, KS. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Robert “Speck” and Mildred Reed Watts.

She is survived by her companion Donald Painter of St. Joseph, two children: Angela Recob (Christopher), Mitch Bachman (Christina) all of Wathena, three grandchildren: Sara Recob Neal, Chalei Bachman Cockriel, Kiefer Bachman, three great grandchildren: Chandler & Paisley Cockriel and Jameson Neal, four sisters: Irene Ferry-Torres (Ray) of Hiawatha, Janice Owens (Bill) of Lenexa, KS, Bonnie Torkelson (Allen) of Robinson, Linda Nigus of Hiawatha, with numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation or service. Private inurnment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Robinson, KS at a later date, under the direction of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha, KS.

Douglas Mead Christian
1967 – 2019

Douglas Mead Christian, 51, of Bella Vista, Arkansas passed away unexpectedly January 31 at his home.

He was born August 1, 1967 to Edward and Toni Christian in Hiawatha, Kansas. He attended schools in Hiawatha and then attended Beloit Technical School and graduated with a certificate in heavy machinery. Doug was an over the road truck driver at the time of his death.

Doug married Kelly Jo Mallow September 16, 2000 in Kansas City. To this union, three children were born, Elizabeth Jane, 14, Jackson Mead, 10, and Elison Grace, 8. They all survive of the home in Bella Vista.

He is also survived by his parents Toni Hull, Ed and Deb Christian, a brother Ed Christian Jr. (Connie) all of Hiawatha, a sister, Mik Christie of Falls City, NE, a step brother Jerad (Monica) Enneking of Hiawatha. He is also survived by his mother in law, Michele Mallow of Las Vegas, three sisters in law Lisa Mallow of Mission, KS, Leslie (Curt) Mason of Shawnee, KS, Kindra Mallow of Las Vegas, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Jacob Christie, in June 2018.

There was nothing more important to Doug than his family. He loved spending time outside doing activities with them. Doug was a hard worker and a devoted husband and father.

Two services will be held in his memory.

Deloris A. Buss
1934 – 2019

Mrs. Deloris A. Buss died on Sunday, February 3, 2019 in Hiawatha, Kansas at the age of 84. Deloris was born on December 7, 1934 at her Grandma and Grandpa Loseke’s house in Stanton County, Nebraska. She graduated from Pierce High School in 1952.

Deloris’s early life included meeting her future husband, Gerald Buss, when she was just 7 years old. They were married in 1952 and Gerald farmed while Deloris taught in a 1 room school house in Foster, Nebraska. They lived in Oxford, England for 1 year while Gerald was stationed there while serving in the Army. Deloris said that “living there was like being on a vacation all the time”. They returned to Nebraska and to a life of farming before moving to Springfield, IL in 1958 where Gerald completed his Master’s of Divinity. They then moved to Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Colorado and Kansas. After all the kids were off to school, Deloris started her life-long passion of caring for others in hospitals and nursing homes in Wisconsin, Colorado and Kansas. Gerald and Deloris retired in Hiawatha, Kansas.

Deloris was predeceased by Gerald and her oldest son, Anthony “Tony” Buss. She is survived by her children; Cathy Mueller, David Buss, Jerry Buss, Tim Buss, DeAnn Windibiziri and Sara Buss; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Oaks Indian Mission, PO Box 130, Oaks, OK 74359; Upper Wolf Lutheran Church; or Freedom Hospice.

Burial will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Upper Wolf Lutheran Church Cemetery, 1803 Sumac Road, Robinson, Kansas 66532. A memorial service will follow at 11 AM at Upper Wolf Lutheran Church, with a luncheon afterward.

Diane M. Wisdom
1943 – 2019

Diane M. Wisdom, 75, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 4, 2018 at LaVerna Village of Savannah, surrounded by her loving family.

Diane was born on October 28, 1943 in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late Hubert Lee and Norma (Culp) Jordan. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School.

Mrs. Wisdom retired from St. Joseph Transit after twelve years of employment, and previously worked at Laidlaw Transit and for the St. Joseph School District.

Diane was an avid bingo player and dog lover and enjoyed bowling on a local league for many years.

Diane married Quentin Wisdom on November 18, 1960. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2016.

Mrs. Wisdom was also preceded in death by her son, Clinton Lee Wisdom and infant son, Casey Garold Wisdom.

Diane is survived by her daughter, Lisa Wisdom-Strayer (Rex), St. Joseph, MO; granddaughter, Anna Leigh Wisdom; great-grandson, Drake Wisdom; step-grandsons, Travis Strayer (Stephanie) and Trent Strayer (Amanda); step-great-grandchildren, Courtney, Nick, Sage, Clayton, Jake, Morgan and Christian; three nieces, Twyla Major, Kim Smith-Marti, Bethany Potter and nephew, Steve Boeh.

Helen Mrowczynski
1921 – 2019

On Thursday, January 31st, at age 97, Helena Mrowczynski passed away. She had a massive stroke Monday morning and never regained consciousness. Our joy lies in the knowledge that on Sunday, she enjoyed a joyous day with her family celebrating her great-grandson Han Mellenbruch’s 12th birthday. Helen’s great-granddaughter, Xochitl Suh, wrote the following biography for a sixth-grade project: “Once on a farm in Poland there lived a little girl who would one day leave her homeland in search of a new life in America. Helen grew up in the 1920s and ‘30s and lived on a farm like everyone else, but she stands out from others after you hear her story. In school she was a good student and intended to pursue her studies up to high school (not many people went to college then) but Helen’s schooling was cut short. One regular day, Helen and her family were home when a troop of German soldiers arrived in the small village. The soldiers had orders to make all the families leave and pack clothes. They were not allowed to carry valuable items or money, which the soldiers took for themselves. Twenty-four hours later Helen was in Germany on a forced labor farm, where she worked the next six years, through the course of World War II. The overseer running Helen’s camp was not as cruel as others, but the work was hard and Helen suffered many terrible experiences. However, during the war Helen met a kind man named Ted. He and Helen fell in love and married. She and Ted had two children, Eugene and Wanda. After the war was over Helen was very relieved and happy. She wanted what was best for her new family, so she and Ted decided to travel to the U.S., but immigrating was difficult. Sometimes they would be at the train station and about to leave, when someone would stop them. Thankfully Helen and her family did eventually make it to the U.S. Because their money and possessions had been taken by the Germans, they asked a family in Texas to contribute the fare for their trip in exchange for a year’s work. Arriving in Texas, they began working at the family’s house. The family was harsh and treated Helen and Ted like slaves. The family was always saying do this and that and hurry up, don’t take all day. This was certainly not the way Helen wanted to be treated and not what she thought America would be like. After the year was over, Helen was very relieved. She moved far away, to St. Joseph, Missouri, where she and Ted started jobs and bought a home for their family. Eugene and Wanda started school and the whole family was grateful and very happy. At ninety-five years old, Helen still lives in St. Joseph, all by herself. She loves to tell stories of when she was a little girl. While an outsider might think of her as a kind, elderly woman, she is actually as mighty as an army, as fierce as a dragon, and as courageous as a lion. Helen’s story shows all the hard times she had to go through, but it also shows how she didn’t give up and kept on going even if the path she traveled was rocky. Even on the days when she thought nothing would work out, she kept on going and now she has traveled a long way from where she started. She has led an inspiring life and I can’t believe what she went through.” Left to mourn Helen’s passing are her children: Eugene (Sharon) Mrowczynski and Wanda Ryan, grandson, Jarrett Mellenbruch (Grace,) and great-grandchildren, Xochitl Suh and Han Mellenbruch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, and grandson, Robert (Bob) Mrowczynski, who loved visiting his grandparents in St. Joseph and Sugar Lake. 1943 – 2019

Jerry Ramsey, 75, Savannah, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019.
He was born July 20, 1943 in Fillmore, MO to Willis and Estelle (Karr) Ramsey.
Jerry could do anything; from cooking to mechanics. He loved his nieces and nephews and he was considered more as a father or brother to them.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Twyla Lance; brothers, Bill Ramsey and Bob Ramsey.
Survivors include his sister, Phyllis Berg; numerous nieces and nephews.

Carroll Eugene “Gene” Morton
1938 – 2019

Carroll Eugene “Gene” Morton, 80 of St. Joseph, MO, died Friday, February 1, 2019, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Savannah, MO. Gene was born May 7, 1938 in Gallatin, MO, to Carroll O. and Doris I. (Brown) Morton.

He served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserve for 8 years and then the Missouri Air National Guard for 19 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He worked as an auto mechanic for JC Penny for 19 years, and then retired as an auto mechanic for Wal-Mart after 17 years of service. Gene was a member of the RLDS Church.

Gene married Beverly Koehler on April 10, 1959 at Woodson Chapel in St. Joseph. He is survived by his wife Beverly; daughter Terry Mabury and husband Kevin; son Ricky Morton and wife Cheri; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Janice Pepper and husband Dennis; other relatives and friends.

He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Savannah, MO, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph. Graveside services will be Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Erma “Jean” Hockaday
1933 – 2019

Erma Jean Hockaday, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 1, 2019, at her home.
She was born May 28, 1933, in St. Joseph.
Erma married A.C. “Pete” Hockaday on July 21, 1951. He survives of the home after 67 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Leo, Sr., and Gladys Irene (Simpson) Mace; sisters, Betty Chaney, Ruth Ann Brestman, Dixie Sebern, Virginia Mace, Jerry Mace, and Karen Edwards; and brothers, Ernest Leo Mace, Jr., Pete R. Mace, and Marvin Mace.
Survivors also include her daughter, Nancy Daugherity (Lonnie); four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family.

Pearl McDonald
1929 – 2019

Pearl McDonald of Bolckow passed away February 2, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.

Pearl was born Martha Pearl Anderson April 15, 1929, in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, daughter of Ennis and Rosa (Shelton) Anderson.

As a young child, she survived the Dust Bowl by moving west to California with her parents and extended family. On March 15, 1946,

Pearl married Billie Wayne McDonald, originally from Rosendale, who had been serving in the US Navy in California during World War II.

Their children, Jerry and Judy, were born in California. In 1959, Bill and Pearl purchased a farm in Bolckow and engaged in farming until retirement. Pearl also worked many years for Andrew County Title (formerly Elkins Abstract) in Savannah.

Pearl’s greatest joys were spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors, vegetable gardening, and rooting for the Royals and Chiefs.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2003.

She is survived by her son Jerry McDonald (Donna) of Cosby and daughter Judy Townsend (Herb) of Sedalia; grandchildren: Jeff McDonald (Kelly), Erin Bouchard (Will), Jennifer Diggs, and Will Diggs (Tabby); and great-grandchildren: Colin, Owen, August, Julius, Sylvia, Jaylen, Madisyn, Olivia, and Amelia.

A graveside service will be 10 am Saturday, February 9, at Walnut Grove Cemetery, State Hwy B, near Bolckow.

Terri Lynn Wisneski
1956 – 2019

Terri Lynn Wisneski 62, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. She was born November 18, 1956 in St. Joseph, MO, and graduated from Mid Buchanan High School. She married Joe Wisneski on March 6, 1978 and he survives of the Home. She was a homemaker who also had worked at Butchart Floral and Dairy Queen restaurants. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, and her horse Custer, but most especially spending time with her family. Terri was preceded in death by father, George Zed Cordonnier, and step father Charles Harry Morgan. Survivors include, husband, Joe Wisneski of the home, mother, Sonja Morgan, St. Joseph, MO, daughters, Amie (Tim) Bally, Agency, MO and Abbie (Nate) Sales, Lawson, MO, sons: Joshua Wisneski, Andy (Amy) Wisneski, Tylor Wisneski, of St. Joseph, and Tanner Wisneski, Agency, brother, Chip Morgan, St. Joseph, sisters, Cindi Cress, and Shellie (Chris) Leidy of St. Joseph, MO, her mother in law, Patsy Wisneski , St. Joseph, MO, 11 grandchildren and several nieces nephews. Robert D. Plants
1936 – 2019

Robert D. Plants, 82, of Gainesville, GA passed away January 4, 2019 at the NEGA hospital in Gainesville, GA.

Bob was born July 6, 1936 at Hoyt, Kansas. He served four years in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic.

He married Mildred L. Stolle and they had two children: Larry Robert and Linda Kay.

Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, GA.

He was preceded in death by his son, Larry R. Plants, his brother, Clarence A. Plants and his sister, Edith M. Reed.

Bob is survived by his wife Millie Plants; a daughter, Linda K Plants; and a grandson Peter J. Plants; all of Gainesville GA; a brother, Jacob Plants and his wife Edith, of Lecompton KS; a brother-in-law, Richard Reed, of Topeka, KS as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. Visitation will follow the service at the Hoyt Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Glen Milton Thorne
1927 – 2019

Glen Milton Thorne, 91, of Lancaster, KS died Monday, January 28th, 2019 at his farm home that he was born and raised in.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev Jim Cormode officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 pm on Saturday, at the funeral home. Glen was born on Oct. 13, 1927 in Farmington, KS the son of Henry G. and Eliza (Bailey) Thorne. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1945. He worked as a farmer and raised livestock all his life and was partial to Allis-Chalmers tractors. He was a member of the Farmington Christian Church, where he served as Secretary/Treasurer and a Deacon for many years. Glen also served as Secretary/Treasurer for the Pardee Cemetery Board. He was a member of the Jackson-Farmers CO-OP. Glen enjoyed playing baseball with his brothers, watching the KC Royals Baseball and sports on the television.

He was married to Patricia Morrow on Oct. 16, 1960. Mrs. Thorne survives of the home. Additional survivors include three daughters, Linda (Steve) Koch, Topeka, KS, Cheryl (Henry) Jones, Atchison, KS and Diane (Don) Hanzel, Kansas City, MO, nine grandchildren; Stephanie and Austin Koch, Julie and Elizabeth Jones, Dustin, Brooke, Tyler, Haley and Derek Richardson, and four great grandchildren. His parents, six brothers, and four sisters preceded him in death.

Lanny Joe Phillips
1954 – 2019

Lanny Joe Phillips, 64, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Mosaic Life Care with his loving family by his side.

Lanny was born on November 5, 1954 in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late Byrl and Gertrude (Palmer) Phillips. He was a 1973 graduate of Lafayette High School.

Mr. Phillips was employed as a corrections officer for Western Reception Diagnostic Correctional Center and was previously employed by Mead Products for over twenty-seven years.

Lanny was baptized of the Baptist faith. He was a lifetime avid Raiders fan and enjoyed fishing, The Beatles, Muhammad Ali, The Andy Griffith Show, but above all playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his beloved family.

Lanny married Sandy Elrod on September 26, 1980. She survives him of the home.

Additional survivors include his children; Dan Clary, Sedalia, MO, Kristen Burks (Matthew), Macon, MO; Valerie Vann (Chad), St. Joseph, MO and Daniela Clary; grandchildren, Steven Kalebic, Niklas Clary, Sofia, Joseph and Stella Burks, Breanna Chandler (Clayton), Brandon Vann, Christian Phillips (Stephaine) and Veronica Vann; great-grandchildren, Drake and Emmy Chandler, Ayden and Ava Vann and special buddy, Lucy Baier; two sisters, Judy Arnold and Sarah Moser (John) and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Lanny was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor and Gene Phillips; brother-in-law, Jim Arnold; sister-in-law, Pat Phillips and nephew, Greg Arnold and his beloved dog, Lucky.

Services 1:00 PM Tuesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 12:00 PM Monday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday.

Forest G. Parker
1940 – 2019

Forest G. Parker, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2018.
He was born June 24, 1940 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Forest married Linda Colley August 20, 1966. She survives of the home.
He worked for the City of St. Joseph for over 35 years, with the last 15 years as a Superintendent of the Water Protection Plant.
Forest enjoyed fishing, target shooting, collecting antique guns and reading historical books.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest Parker and Viola Marguis; brother, Herbert Parker; and sister, Barbara Jean Parker.
Additional survivors include son, Jeffrey Parker (Patty); daughter, Leigh Ann Hardie (Troy); grandchildren, Jacob Hardie, J.J. Parker, Jamie Lynn Owens and James Lanham; niece, Laura Donaldson; numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mabel E. Montgomery, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at her home.
She was born December 20, 1947 in Pattonsburg, MO.
Mabel married Robert L. Montgomery on September 14, 1974, he preceded her in death on November 15, 2015.
She was a 1965 graduate from Pattonsburg High School.
Mabel loved God, her children, family and friends and lived life on her terms. She loved traveling and spending the past 3 years fulfilling her bucket list with her children and grandchildren. Each grandchild was her favorite.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Ora and Ruth (Moss) Hancock; sons, Shannon Steele, Robert V. Montgomery; 3 sisters and 7 brothers.
Survivors include daughters, Jennifer Puckett (Scott), Stacey Steele, Shelly Montgomery-Butts (Kevin); 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Huff, Mary Frazier, Margaret Sanders; brother, Herschel Hancock, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Brett Duke, 44, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019.
He was born June 17, 1974 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Brett married Cher Leffler October 25, 2011. She and granddaughter Kieara survive of the home.
He was a member of Hope Fellowship Church. Brett worked at Wire Rope Corporation for 17 years, then later at Silgan Containers.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, food, was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved spending time with his family. Brett loved and cherished his wife, Cher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Linda (Bledsoe) Duke; grandparents, Bill and Betty Watson; cousin, Tammy Schelhorn.

Michael V. Crawford
1947 – 2019

Michael V. Crawford, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019.
He was born June 10, 1947 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
He was a baptized at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Sunnyvale, California.
Michael was a Sgt. with the U.S. Marines having served two tours in Vietnam. He worked with United Airlines for over 40 years until retirement in 2013. Michael later moved to St. Joseph, Missouri in 2015 to be with and care for his mother.
He enjoyed fishing, was an avid sports fan, including football, baseball and basketball. Michael also enjoyed attending church and related activities.
He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Vern Crawford; grandparents, Opha and Hazel Crawford, and Ernest Bundy; great-grandparents, John and Mary Ripley.
Survivors include mother, Dorothy Crawford; sister, Carole Rezetko (Ronald); numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – Ricky Bobby Lee Gillpatrick, 37, of Kansas City, Missouri died in a house fire on January 27, 2019. Ricky was born on January 21, 1982 in St. Louis City, St. Louis, Missouri. He worked as a cashier at Price Chopper.

Larry D. Bruns
1941-2019

Larry D. Bruns, 77, of Whiting, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at his home.

He was born October 25, 1941 at Holton. His parents were William and Eva Williams Bruns. He graduated from Whiting High School and had served in the U.S. Army National Guard.

Larry was a farmer and a stockman.

He married Marjorie “Pat” Zirger on September 27, 1967 at Holton. She preceded him in death on September 23, 2014.

Larry was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill Bruns.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy McNeely (Don), Topeka; two sons, Kevin Robbins, Holton and Tracy Robbins (Terri), Circleville; a brother, Dick Bruns (Darlene), Holton, seven grandchildren, Cody Robbins, Kasie VanDonge (Adam), Jordan Robbins (Dylan), Sarah Robbins, Brittany Robbins, Kelcie Strecker (Trey) and Ryan McNeely and two great grandchildren Kynslee Strecker and Copelan Robbins.

Albert “Al” W. Richardson
1930-2019

HOLTON – Albert “Al” W. Richardson, 88, of Holton, died Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Holton Community Hospital.

He was born September 9, 1930 at Oakley, the son of Alvin and Alice Bogart Richardson. He graduated from Oakley High School in 1948.

Al worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Topeka, retiring in September of 1992.

He was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton.

He married Dorothy Doherty on September 24, 1950 at Colby. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2000.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and was the last of their surviving children.

Survivors include a son, Steven Richardson (Mary), Holton; three daughters, Karen McDonald (Chris), Frankfort, Linda Richardson, Glendale, AZ and Marvene DeVader (Henry), Hoyt; his girl friend, Mary May, Holton; nine grandchildren, Shawn, Denise, Charles, Clifton, Jessica, Jenny, Jandy, Kayle and Mason, twenty-six great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

A visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, February 1st at the Evangel United Methodist Church Family Life Center. Inurnment will be later in the Holton Cemetery. Frances Louise Roberts 90, of Kansas City, Missouri formerly of St. Joseph, MO passed away Wednesday January 30, 2019 in a Kansas City health care center. She was born August 20, 1928 in St. Joseph, Missouri daughter of the late Alma & Oran Burkart. She retired from Whittaker Cable in 1986. She was a former member of the Hyde Valley United Methodist Church. Frances was preceded in death by her parent, husband, Frederick A. Roberts, 4 brothers & 3 sisters. She is survived by daughter, Candace Roberts, Kansas City, MO, granddaughters, Carlee Turner, and Breanne Turner, grandson, Sean Shepherd.
