She was born March 20, 1973 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Marget Janet Jones and the Late Charles Hughes Jr. She graduated from East Buchanan High School and Missouri Western State University. She worked at River Bend as a Juvenile Justice counselor. She loved to read. Lynne was preceded in death by her father Charles Hughes Jr. Survivors include, Mother Marget “Janet” Jones of St. Joseph, daughter, Kali (Tyler) Borchardt of St. Joseph, MO, two sons, Bryson and Javian Hughes of the home, a grand daughter Zoey Mathews, four brothers, Mitchel (Gloria) Huhges of Springfield, MO, Michael Hughes, of St. Joseph, Chuck (Christi) Hughes of St. Joseph, and Robert (Lisa) Hughes of Kansas City, MO as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday with a funeral service to be conducted at 2:00 PM at the Rupp Funeral Home. Mrs. Hughes will be cremated following the services. Memorials are requested to the Lynne Hughes memorial fund in care of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Olga Leona Fairbanks
1923-2016

unnamedONAGA – Olga Leona Fairbanks, 93, of Onaga went to her eternal home on November 2, 2016 at the Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland. She was a life- long resident of the Onaga area.
Olga was born May 11, 1923 in Wheaton, KS the daughter of Wilhelm and Helena Abitz.
She was the youngest of eleven children, born on the eleventh day at eleven o’clock. She attended schools in Duluth and Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton Rural High School in 1941. In her teen years she worked at an Onaga bakery, and then at Safeway in Manhattan.
Olga spent much of her younger years in the homes of her siblings helping raise her nieces and nephews, whom she was very close to all of her life.
She married Lynn Fairbanks on April 21, 1957 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wheaton.
After marriage Olga was a farmwife and homemaker. They spent all their married life on the family farm. Olga was known for her angel food cakes which were present at every family reunion. She was also known as “Kitty” or “Grandma Kitty” to those who knew her best, nicknamed by the Gunsmoke fans in the family.
Olga was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid at the church.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband, and each of her siblings and their spouses, with the exception of her sister-in-law Florence Abitz (Chet) who resided as her roommate at the care home.
Olga is survived by her children Barbara Depew (Chuck), Wamego, John Fairbanks (Deanna) Onaga, and Alan Fairbanks (Regina) Shawnee, KS. Her grandchildren, Marissa Ostrander (Shaun), Brandon Depew (Ashley), Jonathan, Jesse and Tess Fairbanks, and Alaina, Brianna and Chandler Fairbanks, three great grandchildren, Camden, Casen, and Calen Depew and a host of nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5th at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Onaga Cemetery. Olga will lie in state at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga until 3:00 p.m. on Friday. She will lie in state after 5:00 p.m. at the church. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Luke Lutheran Church, and may be sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O. Arlan Charles Mitchell
1950-2016

3997360Wathena, Kansas – Arlan Charles Mitchell, 66, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 and passed away peacefully in his home.
Arlan was born on September 26, 1950 in Mattoon, Illinois to Vernon & Virginia (Johnson) Mitchell.
Arlan went to Eastern Illinois College and went on to work in Colorado where he met the love of his life, Retha Ruhnke Mitchell. They were married on September 6, 1975 and later moved to Wathena.
Arlan enjoyed his recliner, the history channel, spending time with family and his work!
He worked for Dowell Division of Dow Chemical for 9 years, the Grain Companies of Troy and Wathena for 17 years, and most currently was manager at the REA in Troy, Kansas, where he has been for the past 18 years. He was a workaholic and loved what he did. Arlan had many friends and lots of family that will never forget him.
Arlan was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and step-mother, Audrey Mitchell, mother Virginia Johnson and father-in-law, Paul Ruhnke.

Donna was born on March 26, 1938 in Wathena, Kansas to Edward LaMonte Sr. & Eulalia (Gabriel) Poirier. She was a lifelong resident of Wathena. Donna sold life insurance for the Monumental Insurance Company, then worked for the UMB Bank in St. Joseph, Missouri retiring in 2000.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, American Legion Auxillary, Red Hatters and Happy Valley Extension Unit all of Wathena.
Donna married John Bracken on November 23, 1957 in Troy, Kansas. He survives of the home. She was preceded in death by her parents.

He married Deanna M. Strasser on October 19, 1960 and recently had celebrated 56 years of marriage.
Paul was a graduate of Savannah High School class of 1960. He worked as an Iron worker and was a member of Kansas City Iron Workers, Local #10.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening, classic cars and was a Deacon of Hosanna Fellowship. God and family were most important to him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Nold, Jr.; and parents, Louis and Katherine (Heath) Nold, Jr.

Margery Jewell (Stadalman) Patterson

She was born February 25, 1921, near Mound City, Missouri to Roy William and Frances Esther (Laukemper) Stadalman. She attended school in Bigelow, Missouri and graduated from Mound City High School in 1939.
Marge was united in marriage to Ralph “Pat” Patterson on November 9, 1946, in Atchison, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1967.
At the beginning of World War II, Marge drove a Jewel Tea truck in the Atchison area, and was later employed in various finance offices in St. Joseph. Marge retired in 2001 from the Buchanan County Assessor’s office after twenty years of service at the age of 80.
Marge was heavily involved in Soroptimist Club, joining in 1972 and was also active in Eastern Star. Marge volunteered for many years at Brookdale Presbyterian Church, where she was a member and also volunteered at Living Community Gift Shop for ten years/
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rosa Lee New; brothers, William Roy and Richard Edward Stadalman; stepson, Eugene “Step” Patterson; brother-in-law Robert Lee “Adolph” Wilson; nephew-in-law James Wilmes.

He graduated from Benton High School class of 1971, . worked at Wire Rope Corporation of America in the shipping and receiving department retiring after 38 years of service. He enjoyed golf, darts and fishing. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Sandra Orcutt. He is survived by companion, Ronda Stanart of St. Joseph, MO, two sons, Danny Teed (Jamie Cargill) and Michael W. Russell, a brother, Don (Paula) Russell all of St. Joseph, MO, 7 grandchildren, Brooklyn, Haley, Shelbi, Sno, Hannah, Jamaia, and Amia, and a great grandchild, Brailee, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was born August 24, 1949 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Babe was a graduate of Elwood High School, attended Highland Community College and Missouri Western. He was a police officer for the City of St. Joseph and Sergeant at Missouri Western for many years. He co-owned with his family A’s J R’s McGaughy Lounge in St. Joseph and was a lifelong football coach for bantam football leagues and Elwood High School.
Babe was member of TesTrams, Magic Wheels, Eazin’ Thunder Motorcycle Club, and St. Francis Baptist Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mariam (Mozee) McGaughy, Sr.; and brother, Thomas McGaughy.
Survivors include wife, Peggy; children, Monica McGaughy, Marta McGaughy (Gary Adams), Preston McGaughy (Christy), Jamie Carpentier, Drew Lee Ellis (Nancy), and Chira McGaughy (Bobby); twenty-one grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Art Jr. McGaughy (Sherry), Earline Cook, Todda McGaughy (Cheryl), Betty Bey (Donnie), Mary Alice Rowland (Larry), Ronald McGaughy (Mary), and Roger McGaughy (Debbie); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Thelma M. Ziegler
1930-2016

unnamedThelma M. Ziegler was born in Hiawatha, May 29, 1930, one of three children born to Roy and Pearl Molt Moll and has lived all of her life in Northeast Kansas. She grew up on a farm near Robinson and attended Prairie Springs country school. Before she married, Thelma work for Prieb’s Egg Plant in Hiawatha. After her marriage, she worked at Hallmark, and babysat for many families in the area.
Thelma died Friday morning, October 28, 2016, at Maple Heights Nursing Home where she had been a resident about two years.
She and her husband enjoyed camping and traveling. Thelma even though she was very hard of hearing, she always enjoyed carrying on a conversation, had a great personality, was fun to be around, a bit ornery at times, and very creative. Thelma enjoyed her home, and although she did not drive…she did not let that stop her and walked where ever she wanted to go.
She married Elvin Ziegler, September 5, 1953, at Hiawatha. They made Tonganoxie/Jefferson County area their home until his death July 1, 1981, when one of the caves he was working in at Atchison collapsed and killed him. After his death, she moved to Hiawatha to make her home.
Thelma was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Clarence Moll.
Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins; her sister Emma Middendorf of Sabetha; a good friend to Thelma was the Toby Melster family of Hiawatha; Jim Hossfeld family of Holton.
Services are planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Shane Spangler officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services.

She was born July 12, 1967, in Topeka, the daughter of Albert Francis Masqua and Evelyn Jackson.
Sharon was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and the Drum Religion.
She was a homemaker.
Sharon was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth F. Belair and her aunt, Roberta Jackson.
Survivors include her spouse, Virgil Shopteese, Jr., of the home; Her mother and step-father, Evelyn and Rusty Seymour, Topeka; a son, Albert Francis Belair, Manhattan; two daughters, Sarah Jane Hurt, Topeka and Theresa Ann Belair, of the home; three sisters, Stephanie Belair, Topeka, Deanna Roberts, Oklahoma, and Marlena Jordan, Mayetta; a step-sister, Tricia Seymour, Topeka; one brother, Joseph Seymour, Denver, CO; a step-brother, Allan Seymour, Topeka; four granddaughters, Louisa Reyna, Octavia Hurt, Liza Frances Belair and Dena Rochelle Jones, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Michelle Belair.
Sharon will lie in state until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt where family and friends will meet from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Frankie is survived by mother, Carolyn Skeen, father, David Dale Skeen Jr, wife Baylie Skeen of the home, 6 children: Victoria Vogel, Kaylee Jo Crockett, Zula Marie Skeen, Frankie Skeen, Jr., Zyler Skeen, and Zaiden Skeen, step-son, Kye Sauter, two brothers, Jeffrey Woosley and David Skeen.

unnamedRoy Lee Weiser 92, of St. Joseph, Missouri, went to be with his beloved wife Betty Lou, Saturday, October 29, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Roy was born September 25, 1924 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Rev. Earl and Elizabeth (Meister) Weiser. Roy married Betty Lou Kerns on September 27, 1947 and they shared 65 years of wedded bliss together. He received an honorary diploma from Benton High School for serving in the United States Navy, during WWII. He obtained the rank of Seaman 1st class. After his honorable discharge Roy retired from Armour and Company in 1983 after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Meat Packers Union and served as Union Steward. He enjoyed reading the Louis Lamar Western Novels, watching Walker Texas Ranger, traveling, and his dog Avery. At 91 he began camping and boating, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Roy was a 3rd degree Master Mason, 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Moila Shrine and a member of the McCarthy Baptist Church serving as a Deacon for many years. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Lou Weiser, daughter, Sue Ann (Jack) Martin, grandson Ricky Martin, 5 sisters, Cora Maddox, Verva Haywood, Joann Peters, Raeona Pasley, and Bonnie Palmer and her twin brother Bennie Weiser, Roy’s twin brother, Ralph E. Weiser, other brothers, Joseph Weiser, and Earl Weiser, and son in law Jesse Grable. Survivors include, two daughters, Donna Euler and husband Bobby Cunningham, of St. Joseph, MO, and Nancy Grable of St. Joseph, sister, Charlotte Day of Chula Vista, CA, brother, Robert Weiser of St. Joseph, and sister in law, Esther Kerns of St. Joseph, MO. Grandchildren: Bryon (Penny) Grable, Randy Martin, Rita (David) Karleskint, Jacquelyn (Terry) Lynch, Gale Grable, Rebecca Martin, Jimmy Martin Sr, Jenny (Tommy) Burnett, Tiffany Euler (Devon Simpson), Jessea (David) Chapman, Keegan Cunningham and Allison Cunningham, 23 great grandchildren, 22 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 31, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s and Paul Cemetery, Seneca, Kansas. Visitation with the family will be Monday, Oct. 31st from Noon until 1:00 P.M. with a rosary recitation at 12:45 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to Fleming-Jackson-Seever Post #6 of the American Legion in Atchison and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Loren was born January 30, 1935 in Seneca, Kansas the son of George E. and Josephine Lueb Becker. He attended St. Peter’s and Paul Catholic Elementary School and graduated from St. Peter’s and Paul Catholic High School in Seneca.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force from May 1955 until his honorable discharge in May 1960. Serving as a mechanic on the B52 Bomber.
Loren was employed as a technician for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for thirty years retiring in 1990.
Loren was a member of the catholic faith. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #1175 and the Fleming-Jackson-Seever Post #6 of the American Legion both in Atchison, Kansas.
He and Betty Medsker were united in marriage on March 15, 1986 in Atchison, Kansas. Mrs. Becker preceded him in death on January 1, 2013.
Survivors include two step-daughters, Sandy (Larry) Gilliland, Easton, KS; Pat Goodman, Leavenworth, KS; a sister, Norma G. Quinlan, Seneca, KS; three step-grandchildren, Darren (Debbie) Gilliland, Robert (Marie) Gilliland, Josh (Jill) Goodman, and four great step-grandchildren, Courtney Goodman, Logan Goodman, Erin Gilliland, and Kerry Gilliland.
Loren was preceded in death by two step sons, Robert Goodman and Mike Goodman.

She was born October 31, 1940 in Raymore, Kansas, and lived in Albequeque, NM and King Fish, Oklahoma before moving back to St. Joseph. She was proud of her Native American heritage as a member of the Choctaw and Seminole Indian Tribes. She graduated from Benton High School, and worked at Whitaker Cable and Walmart as a Cashier. She also bartended for 48 years at several establishments in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Missouri. She loved to travel and go to Vegas on a whim. She enjoyed going to the casino, and she was a huge football fan, especially the San Francisco 49rs. Darlene also enjoyed traveling back to her Benton High School reunions, and her Whitaker Cable Club friends. To her Barron family, she was always known as “Grandma”. Darlene was preceded in death by her father, William P. Davidson, step-father, Clarence Halpain, and mother Myrtle “Edna” Halpain, a great grandson, Kain Barron, and a sister, Valerie Davidson. She is survived by daughter, Carmen Davidson of St. Joseph, MO, mother,four grandchildren: Shauna(Mark)Davidson Barron, Michelle Ogden, Reanna Ogden, and Victoria Ogden, great grandchildren, Kennadi, Angelo, Diego Barron, and J.K. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wathena, Kansas.
Beverly was an owner and operator of many businesses in Elwood, Kansas, including the Skyline Motel, restaurant and bar. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Otto Hoffman Jr. & Wallace “Boots” Hoffman, sister, Phyllis Fetter.

She married Mark Judkins on December 10, 1988. He survives of the home.
She was a graduate of Lafayette High School.
Laura was a hairstylist and esthetician at Beauty First and owned and operated Shear Excitement for 23 years. She thought of all of her clients as part of her family and she told every one of them they were her favorite.
Mrs. Judkins was a Catholic and worked as a Youth Minister at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Deluth, Minnesota from 2001 to 2003. She enjoyed participating with her grandchildren at Vacation Bible School. Laura loved being with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edelmira (Garcia) Hawkins.

He married Lola Lou Rissel on September 15, 1956, they were married until her death in January 2007.
Joe was a hog buyer for Swift and Company for thirty-three years and after his retirement he started a new career in the building trades working for Payless Cashways and Lowes. He was a 60 year member and Past Master of the Saxton Lodge No. 508, A.F. & A.M., 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason; Moila Shrine.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include daughters, Rhonda Hoselton (Marvin Fankhauser), St. Joseph, Shelly Chavez (Nick), Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Regan Chavez, Paige Brandt (Kyle), Blair Finn (Jarrod), Drew Hoselton (Samantha); and three great-grandchildren.

M. Ruth Clover, 96, Amazonia, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care.
Mrs. Clover was born June 17, 1920 in El Dorado, Kansas. She had lived in Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, and Arkansas.
On September 27, 1956 she married Bobby J. Clover. He preceded her in death after 40 years of marriage on December 31, 1996.
She was retired from the former St. Joseph State Hospital where she was a Psychiatric Aid.
Mrs. Clover was a member of the First Baptist Church of Savannah. In the past she had been an active member of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge as a former officer.
Ruth was an avid gardener and loved flowers and birds. She also enjoyed sewing, baking, and cooking. Most of all she loved being with her family, especially around the holidays when she would prepare her famous spread of food and decorations weeks in advance. She helped raise many foster children.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Inez (Blackmore) Chapin; sisters, Birdie Chapin, Thelma Thomason and Clara Morgan; and brother, Edward Chapin.
Survivors include her five children, Chester Freeborn, Jr., Norma Wenger, Helen Davis, Lois Widener and Carol Simpson (Ron); seven grandchildren: Ron and Ronda Wenger, Ronell Humble, Scott and Bryan Widener, Jennifer Millman, and Steven Simpson; six great grandchildren, Amber and Michael Wenger, Lauren and Aaron Humble, Britney Free and Natalie Millman; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Brian K. McPherson, 60, Burlington Junction, Missouri passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at his home.
He was born June 26, 1956 to Alexander and Thelma (Stafford) McPherson in Jackson County, Missouri.
He married Kathy Louise Linville on August 14, 1990.
Mr. McPherson was a farmer his entire life.
He was a 30 year member and EMT for the 140 Rescue Squad, board member of Nodaway County Ambulance District, 30 year member of the Nodaway County Fair Board, member of the Missouri Association of Fairs and Festivals board and was leader of the Black Label Band.
Brian loved farming, hunting, football, being Santa Claus, writing and playing music, shooting fireworks and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs especially when they are winning. He most enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Clark Heckman officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday, October 21, 2016 from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association or Leukemia Society and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Clifford was born January 5, 1936 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Ora Edgar Pennington, Sr. and Hazel Mildred Hyatt Pennington. He attended USD #409 Schools in Atchison.
He and Mary Leona Cline were united in marriage on August 25, 1957 in Rushville, Missouri. Mrs. Pennington preceded him in death on November 4, 2008.
Clifford was employed with Pillsbury Company/MGP Ingredients for over 24 years, until his retirement. Following retirement he was employed with West Lanes Bowling Alley.
Clifford served in the United States Army from August 1953 until his honorable discharge in September 1958.
He was an enthusiastic bowler, and bowled with many teams over the years. Clifford bowled two perfect 300 games in his years of bowling and was very helpful with Atchison youth bowling. He served as a coach for his children in baseball and softball. In his spare time he loved to read and listen to music.

Troy, Kansas – Eric Dale Jorgensen, 55, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Mosaic Life Care of St. Joseph, Missouri.
Eric was born on March 16, 1961 in Olathe, Kansas to George N. & Charlene (Vance) Jorgensen Jr.
His education beginning at the Drake University & graduating from the University of Iowa as an Anesthesiologist. Eric was a Chief Anesthesiologist for Ellis Fischel Cancer Center of Columbia, Anesthesiologist for Heartland Health, a teacher for Hillyard Medical Classes & farmer. He had many loves, swimming, gardening, planting walnut trees (and caring for them) & family, especially family gatherings with good food. He was an avid hunter & had a great passion for wildlife; he took a yearly hunting trip to Colorado or Iowa with family & friends, foraging for plants & mushrooms the whole way.
A day would not go by without seeing Eric with his best furry friend, Llave.
He was a member of several medical associations & all wildlife associations.
Eric married Carol Rogerson on August 14, 1983 in Olathe, Kansas. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his father, brother, Dennis Jorgensen & a nephew, Jesse Lee Jorgensen.

Allan Dotson, 53, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at his residence.
Allan was born February 3, 1962 in St. Joseph to Edward and Betty (Wilson) Dotson.
In 1979, he married June Carter, they later divorced and she preceded him in death. On June 9, 1983 he married Dawn “Beth” Patterson in St. Joseph who survives him of the home.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; son Jay Dotson; brother, Lloyd Dotson; granddaughter, Clayton.
Survivors include his wife Beth; children, Steve, Brook (Jimmy) Lanham, and Ali Jo (RC Ziolkowski) Dotson and seven grandchildren.

Mary Louise Cochran was born on October 5, 1943, the fourth child of William and Lillian Cochran.
She obtained two masters degrees, the first in educational psychology and research and the second in computer studies. Mary wrote various grants, including Apple Computer grants which led to her becoming a beta tester for the company; the Casting the Nets grant which connected at-risk girls and individuals from Happy Hearts and the Shepherd Center with her students to learn about computers; and The Road Ahead grant which funded technology conferences at schools. Mary was an educator for years, teaching elementary students at Atchison Catholic schools and gifted and talented students both in Atchison and Lawrence, Kansas school districts.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and cheering on her favorite sports teams. She traveled to 19 countries, and in the last several months of her life she experienced an NBA game in Oklahoma, Chris Botti concerts in Manhattan, Kansas and Red Rocks in Colorado, and Royals games in Minneapolis. She lived a good life and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by John Van Dyke, Sr., her husband of 56 years. Other survivors include her children: John Van Dyke, Jr., Tim Van Dyke (Joanie Frakes), both of Atchison, KS; David Van Dyke (Valerie) and Mary Beth McClintock (Brent), both of Kansas City, MO; Sara Van Dyke of New York City, NY and Andrea Verbanic (Michael), of Eudora, KS, her mother Lillian Cochran, Atchison, KS, and her grandchildren Audrey, Curtis, Joyce and Glen McClintock, and Ryan, Joseph and Thomas Verbanic.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, and a brother, Glen Cochran.

Leona loved the outdoors – from barefoot childhood adventures, climbing trees to savor homemade pickles, to late life tending of pristine rose bushes and flower pots while watching her favorite birds on the front porch. She enjoyed shopping – whether at garage sales for the perfect gem to redecorate her home or East Hills Mall for the latest fashions and gifts for her family. Leona was also competitive – she’d calculate for hours to get the highest point word in Scrabble and never let anyone else win, including her grandchildren!

Joseph Eugene Fry

He was born October 1, 1949 in Wathena, KS, son of Genevieve and Elmo Fry. He graduated from Benton High School 1967 and married Judy Decker on August 7, 1970 and she survives of the home. He served in the Army, 1st Infantry Div, Big Red One and is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and a recipient of the Purple Heart. he then enlisted in the Missouri Air National Guard and retired after 21 years of service. He worked at Crouse Milling, and Stone Container retiring after 22 years of service. Joseph enjoyed traveling spending time with his friends and family, history, and telling stories, and going on numerous Mission trips to help the Navajo Indian nations. He was a member of the Faith Valley Church of God. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Roberta Fry, and Adaline Fry. Survivors include, wife Judy of the home, two sons, Jeffrey E. Fry of St. Joseph, MO, and Randy J. (Melissa) Fry of Agency, MO, daughter, Amy J. (Michael) Wiedmaier of St. Joseph, MO, nine grandchildren, Ethan, Cayden, Haley, Hannah, Holly, Lily, Maddox, Elsa, and Emery, three great-grandchildren, Maycie, Landon, and Scarlett, and his brother-in-law, Steve Decker of St. Joseph, MO.

Jann Edit (1)James “Jim” Nelson Jann, 80 of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at his home. He was born March 18, 1936 in St. Joseph, MO. He married Mary C. Hazelrigg on October 6, 1961 and she survives of the home.
He grew up on a farm outside of St. Joseph and graduated from Savannah High School. He worked as a salesman for Goetze Dental for over 45 years and was a part time farmer.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Terry Jann of Syracuse, NY, and David Jann of St. Joseph; two grandchildren, Matthew Jann and Derek Jann; two sisters, Gaile DuBois of Boonville, MO and Louise Cummings of St. Joseph. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Thomas married Jane Holbert on May 31, 1986.
He was a maintenance worker and enjoyed spending time playing pool.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; Thomas and Margaret Almanza (Williams).
Survivors include wife, Jane; sisters, Yvonne Almanza, Delores Griffin (George); brothers, Freddy and Terry Almanza.

Johnny Lee Nattier, infant son of Johnny Nattier, and Amy Stocking was stillborn on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care.
Although Johnny Lee never spent any time with us on this earth. He was loved very much and touched many lives.
Additional survivors include siblings, Spencer Riddle, Dakota Nattier, Makenzie Nattier, and Addalyn Stocking, grandfather, Arnie Stocking. Grandmother,Vereanna Stocking; Uncles; Jason Valentine, James Nattier. Great Aunt and Uncles, Keith Vickers, Phillip and Sandy Vickers, Along with many other loving family members.

He graduated from Yerington High School, Yerington, NV. He served in the United States Army, He worked at Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary as Lieutenant 11. He was a Free Mason, an antique collector, and a Civil War buff. He loved his three Weiner dogs, Pepper, Buddy, and Boo, and he was a Christian. Brian was preceded in death by mother, Helen West. Survivors include, father Terrance Cooper of Shelton WA, two sons, Alan Davis of Saint Joseph, MO, and Brian (Crystal) Davis, Jr. of Manchester, NH, two sisters, Dana Carey of Roseville, CA, and Donna Stafford of Reno, NV. A Graveside Inurnment service with Military honors will be conducted at 12:30 PM Friday at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Arrangements Rupp Funeral Home.

croppedAlfred Wayne Stevenson, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care with his soul mate, Janet by his side.
Wayne was born November 11, 1937 in St. Joseph. He attended Lafayette High School. In 2011, he retired from the St. Joseph School District. Wayne loved hunting and fishing.
Preceding him in death are his parents; siblings, Bob, Ronnie, Maford, Beverly and Marilyn.
Survivors include, his soul mate, Janet Schrupp; siblings, Jerry and Phyllis; his three buddies, Barney, Maggie and Ruby.
Mr. Stevenson has been cremated under the care of Clark-Sampson Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Cathleen Rose James

She was born September 29, 1943 in Memphis, TN, daughter of Katherine and John Whalen. She graduated from Convent of The Sacred Heart High School in St. Joseph, and attended one year of college. She was a Homemaker, who enjoyed crossword puzzles, and her Cat – Maggie. She was a Catholic. Cathleen was preceded in death by father, John D Whalen and brother, Bob Whalen. Survivors include, Mother, Katherine Whalen of St. Joseph, six children: Pamela L James, Sean Michael James, Timothy “Tim” James, Michael James, Kelly Sprague, David “Andy” Andrew Trent all of St. Joseph, MO, 13 grandchildren, numerous great grand children, six brothers, Mike, Bill, Tim, Tom, Dennis, and Joe Whalen, and one sister, Susan Whalen-Sanders. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Rupp Funeral Home with Father Evan Harkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Cathleen James Memorial Fund.

Survivors include her daughter, Beth Conway; two grandchildren; sister, Lesley Johnson; and niece, Sarah Johnson.

Charles “Charlie” Ytell, III, 38, Monroe Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his home.
He was a Lafayette graduate.
Charlie worked as a cook at Barbosa’s and later in the Meat Department at Hy-Vee.
He was born December 18, 1977 to Charles Leonard Ytell, II and Vivian (Decker) Ytell in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Survivors include his children, Alexis and Jayden; father, Charles Ytell, II (Aneta); and Mother, Vivian Ytell (Wayne).
Graveside Farewell Services and Interment 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
