She was born June 22, 1937 in Forest City, MO, daughter of Charlene and Ernest Rasnic. She married Howard Sherlock Sr. on October 21, 1954 and he precedes her in death. Margaret was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, camping, working in her garden but most especially spending time in her with her grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by husband, Howard, her parents, a daughter, Rebecca Sherlock, grandson, Kent Dean Sherlock, three brothers, Donald, Russell, and Ernest Rasnic Jr. and a sister, Dorothy Turner. Survivors include son, Kenneth (Jeanan) Sherlock of Dearborn, MO, son, Howard (Sandra) Sherlock of Stewartsville, MO, grandchildren, Travis, Misty, Ashley, Tricia, Nancy and Samantha, 11, great grandchildren, and three sisters, Betty Todd of St. Joseph, MO, Bonnie Schieb of Houston, TX, and Helen Rasnic of Wichita, KS.

Jack JD Culver
1936-2015

Jack JD Culver, 79, Parkville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at his residence.
He was born March 30, 1936 to Roe and Velma (Vanover) Culver in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He was a veteran retiring from the United States Airforce as a master sergeant and as a diesel mechanic for the United States Post Office.
Jack was a Chiefs and Royals fan. He faithfully supported his grandchildren, attending every game, rain, sleet, snow, or hail. He will be missed by his family and friends as we wait to reunite with him in the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Michael and Charles Chuck Culver; daughter, Julie Wilson; and granddaughters, Kristin and Jamie.
Survivors include wife and partner of 57 years, Joyce (Wilson) Culver; children, Paul Culver (Sheila), Patrick Culver, and Kelly (Culver) Ezell; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis Fasching, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at a local healthcare facility. She was born July 21, 1934 to Albert and Marie Shaffer in Fillmore, Missouri.
Phyllis married Jack Fasching in 1956. He preceded her in death in 1983. She was a former member of King Hill United Methodist Church and Wesley United Methodist Church. Phyllis was a country western singer with local bands. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan and bowler. She operated a booth at the St. Joseph Antique Mall and loved going to auctions. In 2013 her family was able to enjoy their final family trip together in Cancun, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Alberta Ramsey; brother, Francis Shaffer. Floyd married Florence Flossie Schleper on August 24, 1940 who preceded him in death January 17, 2015. He was a member of the St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister Lay Leader, past President of Downtown Association, Downtown Rotary, past President National Shoe Retailers Association, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, and Serra Club of St. Joseph. Cotton was the owner of Everett Shoe Store in St. Joseph, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sisters, Virginia Black and Billie Everett; brother, Victor Roscoe Everett. He enjoyed playing baseball, and softball, and played on the Pepsi Cola Team, Wal-Air Softball team, he also participated on the Senior National Softball team, he was a member of Moila Shrine. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ronnie Lofts, two sisters, Dixie Bachali, and Beverly Sealby, and a granddaughter, Brandy Henderson. He married Teresa Caldwell McDowell on 8/16/1985 and she survives of the home. He attended Lafayette High School. He served in the United States Army. and loved to Cook. He was a Volunteer at Salvation Army. Greg was preceded in death by his father, Glen McDowell, mother, Deanna Proffitt, brother, Howard Ellison, sister, Wanda Calloway. James A. Johnson
1943-2015

James A. Johnson, 72, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife of 38 years, Beverly Ann Johnson. Tragically, he was rapidly succeeded in death by his brother, Michael, on July 7, 2015.
An avid reader and student of history, Mr. Johnson had honorably served his nation in the Army, was a graduate of the Citadel, and had retired as a civil servant in the early 1990s.
Born June 5, 1943, to Luther and Concha Johnson in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, James was a private and plainspoken man, with a tender and generous heart. A man of faith, he and his wife Beverly attended the Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church congregation.
He is survived by his children, Clinton, Joseph, and Laura Celeste Gventer; by three siblings; numerous grandchildren; and other extended family.
Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Care provided by Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. She was born June 19, 1939, to Michael and Freda (Dowell) King in Brookfield, Missouri.
Mrs. Johnson was a long retired civil servant. She attended Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church.
Beverly was a talented quilter and a crafts enthusiast. She was a very clever, organized and capable person. She was one of the most kind hearted and gentle people you would ever meet.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; and husband of 38 years, James A. Johnson.

Ralph worked as a service supervisor for Sears for over 35 years and later at Walmart for another 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Saxton Lodge No. 508, A.F.& A.M.; High Twelve Club. Ralph gardened, could fix anything and he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and ten brothers and sisters. She worked at Boehringer Ingelheim as a Microbiologist. She enjoyed music, reading books, loved her cats and all animals, she enjoyed volunteering at the Animal Shelter. Laura also loved to travel especially Europe and the all over the United States. Preceding her in death are her paternal grandparents, Gene and Betty Wells, maternal grandfather, Enos Simerly, maternal grandmother, Maxine (Simerly) McQueen, father-in-law, Sam Swartz, aunt, Juanita Wells, and uncle, Albert Wells. Freda Christeen (Caruthers) Bell

Freda Christeen (Caruthers) Bell was born January 26, 1932, in Little Rock, AR to David M. and Fanny C. Caruthers, who preceded her in death. Freda is survived by her faithful husband of 67 years, Charles Bell; her three children and their spouses: sons C. Douglas Bell and wife Vicki, and Dennis Bell and wife Cheri and daughter Nancy Nelson. Also surviving are grandsons Dennis Bell and wife Kelly, Scott Bell and wife Debbie, Brian Bell and wife Lynn, Joel Woodward and wife Melinda, Bradley Wilson and wife Jessica; granddaughters Amy Maudlin and husband Mike and Ashley Castle and husband Daniel. Fredas brother Jesse Bagwell and sister Margaret Midge Roach survive her, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Nine great-grandchildren survive her: Alex, Courtney, and Reagan Maudlin, Amanda Woodward, Cooper Wilson, Hailey, Taylor, Dylan and Trevor Bell. Freda was a faithful wife, and devoted mother, sister, grandmother and daughter who dedicated her life to the care of those around her. She worked as both a beautician and real estate agent, but her heartbeat was as a homemaker. Her most notable attribute was her generosity and willingness to reach out to others. Fredas faith in Jesus served as a source of motivation through life and was a comfort and peace as she transitioned from this world. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. Greer, Paul obit photoPaul Gray Greer, 26, St. Joseph, Missouri went home to be with his precious Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, July 5, 2015.
He was born June 13, 1989 to Dennis and Deborah (Egli) Greer in Wausau, Wisconsin.
Paul was diagnosed with cancer at age 16 and fought the battle for ten years. He used this to help and inspire others to not give up hope.
Paul was home schooled and later attended Missouri Western State University where he recently received an Honorary Bachelors of Humane Letters Degree.
When he was younger he served two years with Novo Ministries in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at an intercity childrens ministry.
He worked for Marlow White Military Uniforms, Inc. in Leavenworth, Kansas. This is a place he enjoyed being a part of and afforded him the opportunity to work with all three of his brothers.
He was preceded in death by his aunt, Rebecca Anne Wilson.
Survivors include his parents; three brothers, Sean (Karen), Daniel (Rachel) and Stephen (Audrey) Greer; sister, Erin Greer; seven nieces and nephews; maternal grandparents, John Egli and Rebecca Christian; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Francis H. Starr, 74, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at his home.
He was born March, 22, 1941 to William and Katie Starr in Highland, Kansas.
Francis married Joyce Petty on December 13, 1975.
Mr. Starr worked 36 years for Wire Rope Corp of America.
He was an avid basketball fan and loved his family.
Volunteering was very important to Francis volunteering for 15 years at WRDCC Department of Corrections, Church van driver for children for 20 years and faithfully attended all of his wife?s functions, work and volunteering as her driver.
He was a member of Central Assembly of God, Union United Steelworkers of America, Local 05783, and St. Joseph Branch NAACP.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Ezra Starr; sisters, Mattie Starr, Shirley Young, and Sandra Broussard.
Survivors include his wife of the home; children, William Broadus (Georgia), St. Joseph, Missouri, Rod Broadus (Elizabeth), St. Joseph, Missouri, Matilda Soukouna, St. Joseph, Missouri, Genise Douglas (Kenneth), Liberty, Missouri, and Connie Broadus, St. Joseph, Missouri; brother, Nolan Starr (Mary), Wathena, Kansas; sister, Louise Barksdale, St. Joseph, Missouri; adoptive Minnesota son, Charles Schlimme and faithful brother, Stephen T. Holdenried; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kenneth A. (Ken) Andrus
1930-2015

Kenneth A. (Ken) Andrus, 84, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
He was born November 26, 1930 to William and Laura Andrus in Sparks, Kansas.
Ken married Dallas J. Noland on January 20, 1949 and preceded him in death November 13, 2001.
Ken was a construction worker for over 60 years and owned and operated Andrus Construction. He also taught heavy equipment classes at Hillyard. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator and consultant for Bruce Hannah Construction Company.
Mr. Andrus was a member at Eastside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He had a strong faith and was a good witness to people.
Ken enjoyed gardening, mowing, playing cards, and sports, especially his Royals and Redskins. The most important thing to him was his family of whom he loved very much. He was the best father and his memory will forever hold a place in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant daughter, Brenda Shirleen; sisters, Urshal Patton, Cleota Hoffman, infant twins, Geraldine and Barbara Jean; and brother, Recil Andrus.
Survivors include children, Barbara C. Grider (Michael), Kenneth W. Andrus, Rhonda S. Andrus, and Regina E. Reece (Rickey); brothers, Delbert, Connie, and Gale Andrus; sisters, Phyllis Miller and Charlene Steieman; 7 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Rose Marie Garrison

She was born April 7, 1932 in Savonburg, KS, daughter of Catherine and Archie Ludlum. She graduated from Grant Township Rural High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse for 50 years working at VA Hospital in Leavenworth, KS, the St. Joseph State Hospital, and at the hospitals in Parsons and Chanute, KS. She loved traveling, antiques, and loved all holidays. She also enjoyed gardening and was crazy about her grandkids and great grandkids. She was a former member of the former King Hill Baptist Church/Journey Baptist Church. Rose was preceded in death by husband, George Garrison, her parents, and a brother, Charles Ludlum. Survivors include, son, Steven (Jan) Ashcraft of Yukon, OK, daughter, Lonetta Ashcraft of Olathe, KS, son, Jeffrey (Rise) Ashcraft of Kansas City, MO, and son, Bob Garrison of St. Joseph, MO. Grandchildren: Joseph (Jennifer) Dix, II, Jennifer (David) Shelow, Jessica (Ray) Greene, Julie (Gary) Simpson, Mindy Ashcraft, Jeffrey (Becky) Ashcraft, II, Kyle Ashcraft, Beth Garrison, Jimi Poe, Preston Cornelius, and Mackenzie Cornelius, 17 great grandchildren: Katy, Emily, Jacob, Enesynce, Mikayah, Conner, Kloey Rose, Damon, Micah, Rachelle, Isaiah, Elijah, Logan, Hazel, Hannah, Jordan and Damian, two sisters, Edna Beth Hartzell of Erie, KS, and sister, Cathy (Phil) Long of Parsons, KS.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, on Friday, July 3, 2015 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Rev. He was born September 10, 1963 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of Wanda & Carl Shade. He married Debra Webber Shade on July 2, 2001 and she survives of the home. He attended Lafayette high school and worked at Midwest Scrap and Missouri Iron Metal – salesman and welder. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Stanley and Dennis Shade, and sister, Carlene Shade. He is survived by wife, Debra Shade of the home, two sons, Josh Shade and Greggory Taylor a daughter, Barbara Webber, all of St. Joseph, MO., 3 grandchildren: Zayden, Blayke and Tyler. He will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. There are no scheduled visitation or memorial services at this time. Homer D. AndersonDale Anderson, 88, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at his home.

Dale was born in Agency, Missouri to Paul and Vernia (Gibson) Anderson
He served in the US Army during Korean Conflict and was a farmer in the Agency and Helena areas for more than 40 years before retiring and moving to St. Joseph.
Dale was Preceded in death by parents; brother, Howard and infant sister, Nadine; son, Scott; daughter, Dorothea (Dee Dee) Worley.
Survivors: Daughter, Cindy (Tom) O’Brien, Liberty, MO; Sons, Mike (Linda), Helena, MO; Dan (Jolene), Agency, MO; Edward (Marla), Clarksville, AR; Philip (Amanda), Florida; Sisters, Luray Jones and Darleen (Bill) Young, St. Joseph and Melba Chambers, Agency, MO; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services 10:00 AM Friday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.

Robert “Babe” L. Shimer
1932-2015

He was born April 20, 1932 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Nellie and Earl Shimer. He proudly served in our United States Army and is a veteran of the Korean War where he was captured and became a Prisoner of War for three months in Korea. He worked at Armour over 20 years, Land Construction and owned and operated Shimer paving company. He loved trap shooting, and fishing the Missouri river. He was a member of the American Legion Post 359, VFW post 6760, 4F Flathead club, the St. Joseph Yaught Club and the Lake Contrary Lake Association. Babe was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Donald Easter, Jr., sister, Doris King, and his faithful companion – Snooty Sue Shimer. Survivors include, wife, Toni Shimer of the home, eight children: Beany (Alfred) Shunk, Kelly (Doug) Schmeidler, Chrissy (John) Rosenthal, Donna (Calvin) Miller, David (Cheryl) Easter, Waynie (Shiela) Wilson, Jason Wilson, and Stephanie Wilson, 30 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, three sisters, Virginia Lavadure, Betty Frazee, and Patty Kincaid, five brothers, William, Dale, Donald, Earl, and James Shimer.People will forget about what you said, about what you did, but they will never forget about how you made them feel. You will never be forgotten Babe!

Ruby Nellie Webster Munshaw
1918-2015

150x223-Munshaw, RubyRuby Nellie Webster Munshaw, loving and devoted wife, for 63 years, and a partner in ministry, to the late Reverend Joseph J. Munshaw was born December 6, 1918 in Grand Forks, British Columbia, Canada, and died June 9, 2015 , at 1 o’clock at the Oregon Care Center, Oregon, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur H. Webster and Anna Crystal Webster; two brothers George and Lorne Webster, and a sister Ruth Clark.

Ruby is survived by three sons,who were with her, Dr. Joseph Arthur Munshaw (and wife Coke Hennessy) of Manchester, Missouri, John William Munshaw (and wife Joyce) of Oregon, Missouri, and Robert Wayne Munshaw of Independence, Missouri. She also is survived by eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

When she was four years old her family moved from Canada to Central Point, Oregon, where she grew up and graduated valedictorian of her senior class in 1936. In 1943 she became a U.S. citizen.

When she was seven, Ruby was asked to become the pianist for her church. This began a lifetime of music ministry that lasted more than eighty years. She played piano, organ, and autoharp. She directed and accompanied church choir cantatas at the Methodist churches in Guilford, Barnard, Bolckow, Oregon, and Forest City, Missouri. Even when her eyesight and memory were failing, she brought comfort and joy to herself and others playing the piano and organ at the Oregon Care Center, where she resided in the last years of her life.

At her request, her body was cremated. A memorial service celebrating the life of Ruby Munshaw will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri. A visitation will occur one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Inter-Serv, 200 Cherokee St., St. Joseph, MO. 64504, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Leonard married Beverly Jean Morey November 23, 1954.
He was a mechanic for Bill Miller Buick and later Greg Buick for 48 years. Leonard proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and later served in the Missouri National Guard.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Savannah, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Johnnie B. Cross, and sister, Maxine McCreary.
Survivors include wife, Beverly Cross; sons, Robert Cross (Nancy) and Ellis Cross (No?l); seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Benton high school (1966), and worked at Imperial Valet & Gas and TG&Y stores. She enjoyed crafts, painting, sewing, crocheting, and she loved the mountains & outdoors and camping but most especially she loved her kids and grandchildren. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Sandra Hall. She is survived by husband, Dean Hamm of the home, a daughter, Jamie (David) Enochs of Hiawatha, KS, two sons, Chad Grable and Kevin (Cathy) Grable of St. Joseph, MO, 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Jim Hall, and a nephew, Cody Hall and former husband Gary Grable of St. Joseph. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 12:00 pm at the Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
