Helen R. Fuson, 93, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 at her home surrounded by her four sons.
She was born August 12, 1920 to Fred and Nellie (Scott) Kimsey in St. Joseph, Missouri.
She married Bill Fuson on September 1, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Helen and her husband ran Crab’s Market, a local grocery store, for twenty years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Altar Society, and volunteered at the Open Door Food Kitchen with her husband.
Mrs. Fuson was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Phillip Fuson; brothers, George Kimsey and William Kimsey; and sister, Margaret Harkrader.
Survivors: sons, Larry Fuson (Shirley), St. Joseph, Missouri, Greg Fuson (Bethann), St. Joseph, Missouri, Doug Fuson (Nanette), King City, Missouri and Matt Fuson (Barb), St. Joseph, Missouri; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Borgen, Rosemount, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Parish Rosary 6:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. George Harold Smith

smithgeorge201311221George Harold Smith 62, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013. He was born March 1, 1951 in Agency, MO, son of Mary “Mae Bell” and Billy Smith. He graduated from Easton High School then served in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked at Burlington Northern railroad as a conductor and he was a Christian. George was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Billy Wayne Smith, and a sister, Jeanette Sonderigger and one grandson Dalton Smith. Survivors include, 2 sons, Jeff Smith and wife Kim of Faucett, MO, and Bud Smith and Companion Hannah of Gower, a daughter, Amanda Scanlan of Saint Joseph, MO, 9 grandchildren, Whitnea Paige, Sage Cooper, Hilirea, Blake, Delanie, Sophia, Cooper, Raife, and Aubriegh, two brothers, Pat and Mike Smith, and a sister, Peggy Admire.

A graveside funeral service and interment will be conducted at the Yates Cemetery, Faucett, Missouri, 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 26, 2013. William “Bud” Everett

EverettBudWilliam “Bud” Everett 69, of Elwood, Kansas, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 in a St. Joseph Missouri hospital. He was born October 29, 1944 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Elizabeth and Leonard Everett. He served in the Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received the Purple Heart, and was awarded the National Defense service medal, sharp shooter medal, Viet Nam service medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat infantry badge, and two overseas service bars. Bud had worked at several jobs including, Herzog as a Watchman for 7 years. St. Joe Fuel Oil as a Truck Driver and at Farris Truck Stop. He was a member of a number of veterans organization including the VFW Post 6760, Disabled American Veterans, Veteran of Vietnam War inc, and the Freedom of the Rode Riders. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, and target shooting, and was a Baptist. Bud was preceded in death by father, Euell Leonard Everett, mother, Elizabeth Dudley, two brothers, John L. and Euell Everett, a sister, Mary Jo Jenkins. Survivors include, former wife, Carole Colborn of the home, a daughter, Tammy Everett of St. Joseph, MO, a son, Albert Everett and wife Patty of Springfield, MO, step-son, Allen Crail of St. Joseph, MO, step-daughter, Renita Wilson and husband Herb and step-son, David Crail of Elwood, KS, 22 grandchildren several great grandchildren, two brothers, Bob (Isabelle) Everettm and Donnie (Melinda) Everett of St. Joseph, MO, and a sister, Beverly Kline of Ontario, OR.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am, on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Rev. Albert Shirley officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Matthew Ethan Van Vacter, 38, of St. Joseph went to be his heavenly father on Saturday, November 16, 2013 in St. Joseph.

Matt was born August 26, 1975. In 1995 he graduated Central High School. He pursued his career in construction, specializing in commercial painting. He was involved with many projects including painting casinos, Lifeline Foods. He was not only good at what he did, but fast and accurate. He was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church, where he occasionally served as a greeter.

Matt loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He always gave the best hugs. His spirit and love will be sadly missed by all.

Preceding him in death was is paternal grandparents, Donald Van Vacter Sr. and Virginia Ibrahim; maternal grandmother, Rosie Turpin and infant sister, Dawn Renee’.

He leaves behind his loving parents Donald Jr. and Wanda (Turpin) Van Vacter; 3 sisters, Deborah Flores, Sherri Gutierrez, and Tonya Van Vacter; one brother, Aaron Van Vacter and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at King Hill Christian Church with Inurnment following in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to service from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor James Sones officiating.

Robin Rae Thomas, 50, of Fillmore, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013.

Robin was born on July 4, 1963 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Robert and Leila Davis. She worked as a Cashier for the North Belt Wal-Mart.

Robin was preceded in death by her father and brother, David Davis.

She married Kerry Thomas. He survives of the home.

Additional surviving family includes children, Samantha (Morgan) Foster, Kayle (Johnny) Rich and Briana Sollars; grandchildren, Savannah Doney, Tucker Foster, Bentley Rich and Mollee Foster; mother, Leila Davis; sisters, Janice Sipes, Lorie Russell and Kristie Gardner. Robin was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother.

Memorial Service 1:00 PM Saturday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.

Visitation will begin after 12:00 Noon Friday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday evening.

Orville “Tag” Stacey, 64, St. Joseph, Missouri died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born November 30, 1948 to Orville and Ann (Lovda) Stacey in Chicago, Illinois.
He married Betty Stacey on August 5, 1972. She survives of the home.
Orville graduated from Central Methodist University, Class of 1972 and ILIFF School of Theology in 1975. He retired as a supervisor from the Children’s Abuse and Neglect Division of the Department of Family Services.
He was a lover of the musical and theatrical arts and was a devoted Cubs fan and Missouri Tigers fan, but his passion was his grandson.
Mr. Stacey was preceded in death by his father.
Additional Survivors: children, Matt Stacey (Nicole) and Debbie Stacey (Chip Anderson); grandson, Kaleb Purvis; and mother, Ann L. Stacey.

He was born Decebmer 7, 1931 to James and Sarah (Huff) Adams in Gentry County, Missouri.
He married Lois Jean Eaton on July 19, 1963 in Union Star, Missouri. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom Adams, Junior Adams, and Leslie Adams; sisters, May Steiner (Alfred), Mary McBride (Jack) and Edith Adams.

He was born June 4, 1965 to Jerry Lee, Sr. and Judy (Ashworth) Kretzer in Camp Pendleton, California.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Eileen Ashworth Kretzer.

Frank Joseph Mier, 55, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at his residence.

Frank was born December 18, 1957 to Floyd and Frances (Garcia) Mier in St. Joseph, where he resided his entire life. He was a truck driver for most of his working life. On August 2, 2000 he married Melba Leedy in Cameron, Mo. Frank was a member of Wyatt Park Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon. Frank loved his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, traveling and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Melba, of the home; brother, John Mier, of Jefferson City, Mo; sister Sharon (Greg) Williams of Florissant, Co; three nieces, Bobbie Jo, Jessie, and Kelsey and great niece, Chesney.

Mr. Mier has been cremated under direction of Clark-Sampson Funeral Home.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Wyatt Park Christian Church with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastors Dr. Scott Killgore and Scott McNay officiating.

Robert C. Caton, 78, lifelong resident of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at a local health care center.

Robert was born March 15, 1935 to Clark and Norma (Williams) Caton in St. Joseph. He attended Benton High School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. In 1955 he married Glenda “Sue” Fisher. He worked for Poe Brothers Commission at St. Joseph Stockyards, Kovac’s Grocery and later sold cars.

Preceding him in death are his parents; four brothers, Patrick, Burman, Charles, and Joseph Caton; six sisters, Mary Hessel, Dorothy “Pug” Herrick, Annalee Couture, Virginia Kirn, Beulah “Boots” Francis and Kathryn Zeiders.

Survivors include his wife Glenda “Sue”, two daughters, Kim Bowen (Ernie) and Tammie Dame (Craig Burnes), all of St. Joseph; three grandchildren, Jordan Dame, Kyle (Amber) Swartz, and Cody Swartz; two great-grandchildren, Caton Swartz and Mackenzie Swartz; several nieces and nephews including Connie (Donnie) Lentz of St. Joseph and Charles “Buck” (Sharon) Caton of Buena Vista, Ar.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Clark-Sampson Funeral Home. Interment following in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Jim Barnett officiating. Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Clark-Sampson Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
