David “Wayne” Cunningham
1971-2015
David “Wayne” Cunningham 44, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care hospital. He was born March 4, 1971 in St. Joseph, MO. He graduated from Lafayette High School class of 1990 and married Candice Carter on July 6, 1995, and they recently celebrated 20 years of marriage. He worked at Progressive Molded Products, Wal-Mart Deli and was the Head Cook at Sizzler working there for 18 years. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, watching TV, and movies, and was baptized at the Carnegie Baptist Church. Wayne was preceded in death by maternal grand parents, Eugene and Clara Mae Blankenship. Survivors include, wife, Candice Cunningham of Rushville, MO, father, Morris “David” Cunningham, mother, Barbara (Blankenship) Baber both of Saint Joseph, MO, two uncles, Dale (Mary) Blankenship, and JR Blankenship, a great uncle, Delbert Gentzell, two half sisters, Kimberlee Neukam and Melisa McKale.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Pastor Stephanie Theis officiating, The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Lotus Rhea Bozarth 80, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 in St. Joseph, MO. She was born December 29, 1934 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Cadelia and Charles Frazer. She was a Homemaker and ironing and laundry for clients. She enjoyed playing cards, crochet, and embroidery and was a Baptist. Lotus was preceded in death by father, Charles Frazer, mother, Cadelia Frazer, step mother, Hazel Frazer, two , Grandchildren, son in law, Louis Burley, brother, Bud Frazer, 4 step brothers, Jerry, Claude, Clyde, Lenny, & Carl Bundy, 1/2 sister, Charlotte Lane. Survivors include, six children: Eugene Wallace (Teresa) Bozarth of Saint Joseph, MO, Vickie (Danny) Nichols of Agency, MO, Linda (Bill) Gill of Agency, MO, Pam Burley of Rushville, MO, Terry (Glenn) McGlothlin of St. Joseph, MO, and Penny (Terry) Ramsey of St. Joseph, MO, 16, grandchildren, 27, great grandchildren, 11, great great grandchildren, several, step grandchildren, and sister, Lavona Farthing of Michigan.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm, on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Rev. Albert Shirley officiating, The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Inurnment will be at the Bethel Cemetery at a later date. Harvey Johnson
1929-2015
Harvey Wayne Johnson, Jr. passed away July 15 at home in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was born August 2, 1929 to Harvey and Sarah (Patterson) Johnson.
He was a Benton graduate and member of the R.O.T.C. He married Mildred Lucile Martin on September 17, 1950. He served as a cook in the USMC during the Korean Conflict. Harvey worked as a meat cutter and was meat and produce buyer for Green Hills Markets. He eventually opened his own meat market in Lodi, California.
Harvey enjoyed many activities and was a referee for boxing matches, bowling on leagues, hunting, tying flies, and especially fishing. He fished all over northern California, Alaska, Arkansas, and southern Missouri. He recruited many people and family members to go along with him fishing, especially Jack Johnson, his brother, Jerry Strong, his cousin and Neil Sadler, his high school friend. Harvey volunteered for the Red Cross, working many disasters and many hours in Florida, Texas, California, and here in St. Joseph earning the Clara Barton Award in 2007. He participated in the Marine Corps League Honor Guard and was a long time member of the Moila Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by Mildred L. (Martin) Johnson, wife and partner of 64 ¾ years; daughter, Linda K. Karches (Bill), California; son, Charles M. Johnson III (Sandy), Nevada; brother, Jack V. Johnson, California; sisters, Nancy L. Clark, California and Judith L. Keene, Arizona; grandchildren, Nicolas and Christina Zapiain, California, Martin and Michelle Zapiain, California, and Veronica Rogers, California; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, second cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery, Plattsburg, Missouri. Betty Mae DeSpain 47, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday July 21, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care. She was born October 30, 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri. She married Tim DeSpain on 9/23/2001. Betty was preceded in death by her step father Dale Burgess Sr, brother, and Dale Burgess, Jr.. She is survived by husband, Tim DeSpain of the home, a son Aaron Burgess of Maryville, MO. mother, Ellen Burgess of Lowry City, MO, father Dennis Buczek, two brothers, Wayne Burgess, and Ray Wilson Jr. and two sisters; Teresa Buczek of Kansas City, KS, and Denise Buczek of Excelsior Springs, MO. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
