Hot this weekend with chance of rain and storms

Heat will be the main story for the weekend with highs in the upper 80s to around 90 today rising into the low to mid 90s on Saturday and Sunday. Heat index values will be in the low to mid 90s today before rising into the mid 90s to around 100 on Saturday and Sunday. Storms will also be possible through the weekend. A few strong storms will be possible today mainly across northern Missouri however, storms on Saturday will have the potential to be strong with isolated severe storms possible as well. The weather pattern is expected to remain unchanged the next few days. With the warm and unstable air in place there will be the chance for some of the storms to be strong with isolated severe storms possible. It’ll be mostly cloudy today but that will help keep the temperatures near normal for early June with highs in the lower 80s. However, temperatures will be on the rise as we move into the middle to the work week with highs rising into the lower 90s. Hot temperatures are expected today with highs in the mid 90s. There is also an Air Quality Alert for today so avoid refueling vehicles, using lawn mowers, and strenuous activity until later this evening. Two rounds of storms are expected today with the first entering the area early this morning. This line of storms will move toward northeast MO, weakening as it does. It should exit the area in the early afternoon. The early afternoon is also when we will see the second round of storms begin to develop. These storms should develop across central MO, with a few potentially becoming severe. Isolated wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to 1 inch are the main concerns right now.
