She graduated from Adair-Casey high School and Northwest Missouri State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Child Development. She married Thomas “Tom” on August 7, 1982 in Casey, IA he survives of the home. Carol worked at Herzog Contracting as a Employee Administrator with the Human Resources department. She enjoyed enjoyed scrap booking, crocheting, traveling, and shopping, spending time with her family, most especially loved her two grandsons. She was a member of Lady Dispatchers with Moila Keystone Kops 1999, past member of St. Joseph Yacht Club and the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Carol was preceded in death by brother, Kenny Ludwig. Survivors include husband, Tom of the home, her parents Kenneth and Marilyn Ludwig of Casey, IA, son, Brad (Krystal) Lengel of Savannah, MO, two grandsons, Blake Lengel, and Kasen Lengel, two sisters, Marsha Morales of Des Moines, IA, and Linda (Brian) Smith of Dexter, IA., and sister in law, Cindy Baulder of Fontanelle, IA.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 2, 2015, at 10:00 am at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Father Adam Ryan Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm, Thursday at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. James G. “Jimi” Johnson

Johnson-James-obit-edited-100x98 James G. “Jimi” Johnson, 62, Mound City, Missouri passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, Missouri after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born December 18, 1952 in Wakefield, Rhode Island, to the late Francis W. and Lillian (Holley) Johnson.
He married Leah R. Parrish July 23, 1986; she survives the home.
James served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1976.
He worked as a laborer most his life, until he was forced to stop due to poor health. Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Ashli Parrish and a brother, Jon F. Johnson.
He is also survived by two daughters, Kristin Pearce and her husband Jason, of Wakefield, Rhode Island, and Jamie Hays and her husband Trevor of Mound City, Missouri; sister, Diana Dierauf of Slocum, Rhode Island; and brother, Paul Johnson and his wife, Carolynne of Wakefield, Rhode Island; three grandsons, Jason and Kristopher Pearce and Kayne Lawson; one granddaughter, Holley Pearce; step-granddaughter, Chloe Hays; godson, Dathan Horn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson wishes were to be cremated. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Service, Mound City, Missouri. She was born March 4, 1933 in Manhattan, Kansas and grew up in Bolckow, Missouri.
She graduated from Bolckow High School Class of 1951 and served in the United States Navy as a Navy Wave.
Erma worked in Real Estate and banking and retired from Citizens Bank in 1982. She had a passion for bowling and was a bowling instructor to many children. Erma participated in numerous national events, and was director and hall of fame member of the Missouri Women’s Bowling Association. She was also a faithful member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Erma (Deibler) Clark; and husbands, Richard Foster in 1994 and Clyde Spangler in 2012.
Survivors include sons, Edward Foster (Debra) and Donald Foster (Penny); daughter, C. Lynn Foster; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; step-children, Craig Spangler and Krista Malcolm; sister, Barbara Ashworth; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Cecil was a member of Cameron Restoration Branch Church where he served as an elder.
He was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel and received other various honors throughout his career.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ray Johnston.
Survivors include wife of 74 years; son, John Johnston; grandson, Ian Johnston (Sonrisa); 5 great-grandchildren, Mayli, Gavin, Elena, Sophia, and Zoey.

He was born May 27, 1954 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Rickey married Carla Raines on April 26, 1980. She survives of the home.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and worked at Bradken in Atchison, Kansas as a welder for 42 years. Rickey was a member of First Baptist Church.
He loved to read and enjoyed his family and his Triumph motorcycle. He liked home improvement projects and served at Open Door Food Kitchen. Rickey was a bell-ringer for the Salvation Army every year at Christmas time and was a bus-driver for his church.
Rickey liked to barbeque and entertain people and he also staffed the hospitality room at Trails West for his church. He was also a teacher for Team Kids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon Sr. and Patricia (Reynolds) Lattin; and brother, Junior Lattin.
Additional Survivors include: daughter, Amber Lattin (Ryan Geesing), St. Joseph, Missouri; granddaughter, Charlotte Geesing; grandson, Graham Geesing; uncle, Gene Reynolds (Shirley); and family pet, Mylo.

She was a graduate of Benton High School and retired in 1986 after 30 years at St. Joseph Packaging.
Mrs. Swope was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. Rosemary was also a volunteer at the St. Francis House of Bread.
She had a kind and generous heart and friends and family meant the world to her.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Balthassar “Pete” and Johanna (Salansky) Sanger; brothers, John, Andrew, George, Carl, Pat, Ralph and Joseph; and sisters, Frances Sanger and Christine White.

He was past president and distinguished club president of Downtown Sertoma and member of Missouri Valley Amateur Radio Club.

He was born November 30, 1928 in Memphis, Indiana.
Mr. Gray proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, following that he was in the Naval Reserves and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Ed worked at St. Joseph Light and Power for forty-four years retiring as a supervisor in 1982.
He enjoyed golfing, dancing, fishing and camping in his younger years and was a member of the American Legion Post #359.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howell and Nora (Barnette) Gray; and brothers, Lester and Johnny Hatten.
Survivors include wife, Ellie Gray; children, Michael Gray, Sheela Simone, Curt Gray, Bob Thompson (Kathy) and Buddy Thompson (Debi); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.

She retired from Montgomery Wards as a Shipping-Receiving Supervisor after 29 years of service. She enjoyed camping, sewing, cook-outs, and playing cards she also enjoyed Montgomery Wards reunions and talking to old friends, but most especially she enjoyed spending time with her family. Ann was preceded in death by husband, parents, a son William Edwin Balley, and two brothers, John and Don Musser, an aunt and uncle Harry and Effie Matthews who had raised her after the death of her mother. He married Dora Benson on December 30, 1950 and were married for 64 years. She survives of the home.
He retired from KU Printing Service at Lawrence, Kansas. Warren was a member of the Christian Center in Hiawatha, where he was an elder. He was also a member of the American Legion Homer White Post #66.
He enjoyed working with his hands and helping anyone in need. Warren loved Kansas Jayhawks basketball and the Kansas City Royals. He especially loved his family and never missed an event in which his great grandchildren participated.
Mr. Widman was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Mabel (Miner) Widman; stepfather, Homer Cline; brothers, Stanley and Melvin Widman and Homer Jr., Dale and Lucian Cline.
Survivors include son, Bob Widman, Gardner, Kansas; daughter, Kathy Goehner (Todd), Atchison, Kansas; grandchildren, Ryan Jones (Bobbie), Rachel Gill (Brett), Kelsey Hayes (Robert), Emillee Chapman, and Amanda, Alexis and Austin Goehner; great-grandchildren, Kate, Maddie and Kyle Jones; Bailey, Drake and Connor Gill; Haiden Hayes and Willow Widman; brother, Larry Widman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born June 15, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Her parents Beatrice Marie Balsinger Morgan and Ray Earl Morgan pre-deceased her, as well as a half-sister, Valery Lynn Bryan.
She was raised and schooled in Troy, Kansas, graduating from Troy High School in 1950. She attended the University of Kansas one year and graduated from Highland Junior College.
She worked in Troy and Portland, Oregon before joining the Department of State, Foreign Service in 1957. She served abroad in La Paz, Bolivia; Cairo, Egypt; Tokyo, Japan; Seoul, Korea; Caracas, Venezuela; Managua, Nicaragua; Vancouver, Canada; and her final post was Seoul, Korea.
After retiring she lived in Washington, D.C. until late 2010 when she moved to the Living Community of St. Joseph.
Survivors include her aunt, Eunice Morgan; and several cousins, Bill Hargis, Barbara Jean Clements, Jaci Crumpler, Dennis, John and Tom Morgan, Sheila Higdon, Mark Morgan and Greg Gustek.
She is also survived by Dan and Inez Duncan and their family; Rob (Annie), Jill and Drue (Liz), who adopted her as “Aunt Fan” many years ago. They took excellent care of her.

Emma Jo Windsor, 89, passed away on September 12, 2015. She was born on July 4, 1926 in Hardin, Mo. She graduated from Central Missouri State College and became a teacher.
She married Paul Windsor on October 10, 1948 and eventually they moved to St. Joseph to start their family. Emma Jo began teaching Speech, English and Debate in 1963 at Bishop LeBlond High School. In 1972 she took a full time position with the St. Joseph Public Schools, teaching Speech, Forensics and Debate at Central High School. She received her Master’s later in her career and became a counselor at Spring Garden, Bode and Truman Middle Schools.
Emma Jo was a dedicated, 70 year member of PEO Chapter BJ and was very active at the Hyde Park and Hyde Valley United Methodist Church.
Emma Jo was always “the teacher”, and will forever be remembered as a wonderful mentor to countless people. She loved her family and always found time for them.
Emma Jo was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Alberta McKemy, and her husband Paul.
She is survived by her son Bruce (Marilyn) Windsor, St. Joseph, her daughter Paula (Mike Morgan), Houston, Texas, six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was born April 3, 1966 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He married Michael Miller on November 19, 2010, and he survives of the home. He graduated from Central high school class of 1985, and worked as a Caregiver in the health care industry. He enjoyed painting, arts and crafts, and had a passion for cars. He is survived by his spouse Michael Miller, father, Lyndon (Beverly) Black of Tyler, TX, mother, Sharon Black of Saint Joseph, MO, son, Jonathan (Lauren) Black of Maryville, MO, daughter, Shelbie (Jeremy) Wideman of Maryville, MO, and son, Jadyn Black, three brothers, Christopher (Michelle) Black, Jeffrey (Gaye) Black, Rodney (Debbie) Black, a sister, Sarah (Jim) Hanson all of St. Joseph, MO. As well as numerous nieces nephews, and cousins. He will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held on Tueday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Dutcher, Vivian obit photo Vivian J. “Viv” (Karsten) Dutcher, 67, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care.
She was born October 9, 1947 in Mound City, Missouri.
Vivian married Paul Douglas Dutcher September 17, 1970.
She worked at the Pentagon for twelve years and later for Social Security.
Viv enjoyed traveling, going to the boat and spending time with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Jacob Beaderstadt; and father, Clarence Karsten.
Survivors include her daughter, Heather Dutcher, Kissimmee, Florida; granddaughter, Lacee Jessogne (Dale), Kissimmee, Florida; sister, Rita Howard, Austin, Texas; mother, Leta Karsten, St. Joseph; and two nephews, Brian and Matthew Howard.

Russell Lee Leslie, Jr.
1965-2015

Leslie, Russell. obitphoto Russell Lee Leslie, Jr passed into eternal life on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Russell’s story began on January 18, 1965. He grew up in Savannah, MO where he met many lifelong friends. After graduating from Savannah High School in 1983 he worked in construction prior to finding his 24 year career at Nestle Purina where he met his wife. Russell enjoyed his job as Maintenance Utility and had a lot of fun with his co-workers whom he loved like family.
Russell and his wife, Delora “Dee” shared a life for 20 years. He loved her three children as his own. Over the years they grew together through life’s many adventures. He loved and had a special bond with each one of them. His greatest joy was his role as Papa to his two granddaughters. He loved his “Little Angels” with his whole heart. He was a fierce protector who kept his family laughing and entertained throughout the years.
Russell enjoyed a lot of things in life. Anyone who knew Russell, knows he had a passion for old muscle cars. You could almost always find him in a garage working on cars, reading car magazines, spending time with friends at local car shows, or behind the wheel himself. More than anything, Russell loved people. Everyone who met Russell has a story to tell. He had a way of connecting to each soul he met throughout his lifetime.
Surviving family: Delora Leslie; Dana, Josh, Grace and Vivian Barton; TJ and Rochelle Marriott; Bailey Marriott and Ryan Norton-Lankford; John and Myrna Hartman; Pam Hartman; Andi and Mark Dryer; John and Stacey Hartman; Mark and Meredith Hartman; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved and supported him to the end.
Russell and Dixie Leslie Sr; Mike and Kim Leslie; Larry Leslie; Jason and Laura Leslie; Judy Drowns; Shayna and Rusty Hall. Many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Leslie and Gullick families. Russell’s mother, Joyce Leslie, preceded him in death.
Russell loved his time in this world and didn’t want to be forgotten so we ask that you please bring a written story about Russell to be randomly read during his service at: Make 12 Church, 107 South 6th, St. Joseph, MO 64501 on Monday, September 7, 2015. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm followed by a memorial service at 3:00pm.
