Bearcats’ add former Minnesota State guard Joey Witthus

Northwest2013riggertMARYVILLE, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State University head men’s basketball coach Ben McCollum has announced the addition of guard Joey Witthus to the 2017-18 Bearcat roster. Witthus, who played the past two seasons at Minnesota State, will be eligible to play next season and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

“We are extremely excited that Joey will be joining our program,” said McCollum. “On the floor, Joey makes for a tough match up. He is a very good three-point shooter, he can put the ball on the floor to make plays and with his size he has the ability to post up and score in the paint. More importantly, Joey is a great kid, comes from a great family, and fits the high character profile that we look for in a student athlete. He is a perfect fit for our group and we would like to welcome him to our basketball family.”

Witthus has started all 61 games he had appeared in for the Mavericks the past two seasons. As a sophomore, he averaged 13.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, logging 934 minutes (32.2 mpg).
